TL;DR: In this paper, a multifunctional all-fiber device that can simultaneously serve as a multimode-to-single mode converter and a wavelength filter is presented, and a quantitative theoretical analysis and experiments are carried out.
Abstract: A multifunctional all-fiber device that can simultaneously serve as a multimode-to-single mode converter and a wavelength filter is presented in this article. The device has a concatenated structure consisting of a multimode fiber, a hollow core fiber, a single-mode core mode blocker (made of magnetic nanoparticles), and a long period fiber grating fabricated in a single mode fiber. A quantitative theoretical analysis and experiments are carried out. A device with an extinction ratio of 25.7 dB and an insertion loss of −6.8 dB is obtained, and its performance should be able to be further improved by optimizing the fabrication process in future. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 15 Feb 2007TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a method for generating a mode signal (N150) indicating the current operating mode of a computer system and the changes in the mode signal in one of the components (N100) of the computer system.
Abstract: The method involves generating a mode signal (N150) indicating the current operating mode of a computer system and the changes in the mode signal in one of the components (N100) of the computer system. The changes in the mode signal and the mode signal itself are provided outside the component of the computer system. The computer system comprises of several components including at least two execution units and a switching unit. The switching unit is provided for switching the operation mode of the computer system between comparison mode and performance mode. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) Mode signal generator; (B) System component with mode signal generator; and (C) Computer system including the mode signal generator.

TL;DR: In this paper, a narrow band optical fiber filter utilizing a multimode fiber Bragg grating and fiber mode scrambler was proposed to tune its reflectivity that is useful as variable optical reflector and strain sensor.
Abstract: We report on a narrow band optical fiber filter utilizing a multimode fiber Bragg grating and fiber mode scrambler in order to tune its reflectivity that is useful as variable optical reflector and strain sensor. A change of reflectivity from 81% to 2% is achieved. We develop a novel fiber Bragg grating strain sensor that allows strain to be applied in the portion of the multimode fiber without grating. Particular advantages of this strain sensor are simple design, low system cost and high sensitivity. A strain sensitivity of 0.0013%/microstrain in change of reflectivity and large dynamic range (0-7,000 microstrain) are demonstrated. The strain sensitivity can be improved greatly by using efficient mode conversion structure in the device.

TL;DR: In this article, a rectification-inversion motor system with noise source equivalent circuit and differential-mode equivalent circuit is considered. But the model is composed of interference source and coupling path, and the simulation and experiment results demonstrate that equivalent circuits are valid.
Abstract: With the object of rectification-inversion motor system,Common mode equivalent circuit and differential mode equivalent circuit are founded to predict interference in this paper.Equivalent circuit is composed of interference source and coupling path.Nonlinear part of power electronic device is replaced by noise source math models.Noise source math models of rectifier and inverter should be calculated separately. For noise source from rectifier, the expressions about common mode and differential mode can be attained by applying Fourier transform. For noise source from inverter, double Fourier integral transform can be applied.Based on common mode and differential mode respectively, the corresponding high frequency models of coupling path were created.Based on superposition theory, common mode interference and differential mode interference of the whole system were educed by equivalent circuit. The simulation and experiment results demonstrate that equivalent circuits are valid.Quantity prediction analysis of conducted interference is realized first to rectification-inversion motor system.

TL;DR: In this article, a spliced-fiber mode filter (SF-MF) was proposed for the 1060-nm band, which selectively removes the power of the high-order mode from a conventional single-mode fiber (C-SMF) that supports two modes at the short-wavelength band.
