TL;DR: In this article, an active element that performs induced emission of light of a prescribed wavelength is added in a concentration that is higher than that in at least part of a region where the intensity of the LP01 mode, LP02 mode, and LP03 mode is higher.
Abstract: Provided is an amplification optical fibre which can output light having a desired power, and also provided are an optical fibre amplifier and resonator which use the amplification optical fibre. An amplification optical fibre (50) has a core (51) and cladding (52) that covers the core (51). The core (51) propagates light of a prescribed wavelength in at least LP01 mode, LP02 mode, and LP03 mode. In at least part of a region in the core (51) where the intensity of at least one of the LP02 mode and LP03 mode is higher than the intensity of the LP01 mode when the LP01 mode, LP02 mode, and LP03 mode are standardised in terms of power, an active element that performs induced emission of light of a prescribed wavelength is added in a concentration that is higher than that in at least part of a region where the intensity of the LP01 mode is higher than the intensity of the LP02 mode and LP03 mode.

TL;DR: In this article, an analysis of multimode waveguides where several modes are coupled via quasiperiodic perturbations is presented, and the supermodes (or eigenmodes) of the structure are derived and orthonormality considerations are discussed.
Abstract: An analysis of multimode waveguides where several modes are coupled via quasiperiodic perturbations is presented. The supermodes (or eigenmodes) of the structure are derived and orthonormality considerations are discussed. In addition, a new type of mode converter between copropagating modes is proposed, where mode conversion is mediated by a backward- propagating mode. Adiabatic and nonadiabatic coupling coeffi- cients are considered and the supermode formalism is used to conveniently describe the mode of operation of the device.

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors proposed a method to measure the mode coefficient in a few-mode fiber with OAM modes, including LP modes and orbital angular momentum (OAM) modes.
Abstract: We propose a method to measure the mode coefficient in a few-mode fiber with OAM modes. In this method, the eigenmodes are calculated through the optical fiber parameters, including LP modes and orbital angular momentum (OAM) modes. Using a single spatial light modulator (SLM) to load multi-channel computer-generated hologram (CGH), multiple matched filters can be generated at the same time to realize the real-time and accurate measurement of each mode coefficient (mode content and relative phase) and reconstruct the optical field. We validate the method on multimode beams, and the accuracy of mode coefficients measurement is up to 99%. It can be used as adaptive control coefficient to provide solutions for the expansion of photon lantern and other technologies.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented a novel design of a fiber-based mode scrambler, which consists of two multimode fibers with half-ball microlens finish, being at some distance and connected via liquid of a certain refractive index.
Abstract: We present a novel design of wholly fiber-based mode scrambler. The device consists of two multimode fibers with halfball microlens finish, being at some distance and connected via liquid of a certain refractive index. The prototype was made using standard components. The laser output profile was proved to be stable and almost entirely independent of input conditions, i.e. varying positions and angles of input laser beam. Moreover, the mode scrambler of the new design shows a very good power throughput, reaching as much as 90% of the light power compared to a single multimode fiber.
