TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a laser device modulation circuit based on white noise, which consisted of an arbitrary waveform generator and an LD biasing circuit, and the high-frequency white noise was loaded to an input end of the LD Biasing circuit.
Abstract: The invention provides a laser device modulation circuit based on white noise. The laser device modulation circuit based on white noise comprises an arbitrary waveform generator and an LD biasing circuit, the arbitrary waveform generator generates high-frequency white noise, and the high-frequency white noise is loaded to an input end of the LD biasing circuit; an output end of the LD biasing circuit provides driving current for a laser device chip D1, and the loaded white noise is superposed on the driving current so as to change the driving current. The laser device modulation circuit basedon white noise of the invention realizes stability of light output by the laser device, is simple in circuit and easy to operate; and compared with a mode of introducing a polarization mode scrambler, system cost is relatively low and system is relatively simple.

TL;DR: In this article, a laser-operated light source is described, which comprises a chamber for accommodating an ionizable gas and an ignition source for ionizing the gas in the chamber for generating a plasma.
Abstract: A laser-operated light source encompasses a chamber for accommodating an ionizable gas and an ignition source for ionizing the gas in the chamber for generating a plasma. The light source furthermore encompasses a laser for inputting laser energy into the plasma such that, under the impact of the laser radiation, the plasma emits useful light, which forms the output signal of the light source, wherein provision is made for means for coupling the useful light into a transferring optical fiber. In the case of the light source according to the invention, at least one mode scrambler is assigned to the optical fiber or the optical fibers.

TL;DR: In this paper, an adaptive mode control method that can selectively excite the linearly polarized (LP) mode within the FMF is presented. But how to precisely control the mode composition of optical signals in FMFs remains a difficult challenge.
Abstract: With the development of mode-division-multiplexing (MDM), few mode fibers (FMFs) have found a wide range of applications in optical sensing and communications. However, how to precisely control the mode composition of optical signals in FMFs remains a difficult challenge. In this paper, we present an adaptive mode control method that can selectively excite the linearly polarized (LP) mode within the FMF. The method is based on using optical pulses reflected by a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) for wavefront optimization. Two potential applications are discussed. First, we theoretically demonstrate the feasibility of large scale multiplexing of absorption based fiber optical sensors. Second, we discuss the possibility of using mode dependent loss to reconstruct the spatial distributions of absorptive chemicals diffused within a FMF.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe a fiber-optic mode scrambler for homogenizing laser illumination over a short timescale, which consists of a series of fibre guides arranged to hold a portion of an optical fiber with a defined curvature between a pair of the guides.
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a fibre-optic mode scrambler for homogenising laser illumination over a short timescale. Example embodiments include a fibre-optic mode scrambler (100) comprising: a series of fibre guides (103a, 103b, 104a, 104b) arranged to hold a portion of an optical fibre (102) with a defined curvature between a pair of the fibre guides (103a, 103b); an electroactive transducer (101) positioned between the pair of fibre guides (103a, 103b) and arranged to contact the portion of the optical fibre (102) along a contact length of the optical fibre; and a control module (111) arranged to provide a drive signal to the transducer (101).
