Abstract: A method is given for the design of suboptimal controllers for single-input single-output systems using partial state feedback. This is based on the Pade approximation technique for model order reduction.

Abstract: The mission control requirements for large space structures are presented as well as some of the problems associated with the active control of large structures in space. A generic model is introduced that contains most of the desired features in the modeling and control problem for large space structures.
