TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe the development of a simulation model for heating of foods in microwave ovens and its uses to optimize food heating strategies, where the solution of the coupled energy and mass microscopic balances considers the electromagnetic energy absorption as well as temperature-dependent thermal, transport, and dielectric properties.
Abstract: This paper describes the development of a simulation model for heating of foods in microwave ovens and its uses to optimize food heating strategies. The solution of the coupled energy and mass microscopic balances considers the electromagnetic energy absorption as well as temperature-dependent thermal, transport, and dielectric properties. The microscopic balances are highly nonlinear coupled differential equations, which were solved using finite element software (Comsol Multiphysics). Maxwell equations were employed in order to describe the interaction between electromagnetic radiation and food. The mathematical model allowed the evaluation of the effect of product size and composition in the temperature profiles that developed inside the food that was radiated either on one or both sides. In order to improve the nonuniform temperature profiles that occurred within foods under continuous operation, different operation schemes were evaluated: intermittent cycles, joint action of microwaves with air impingement, and the effect of interference of electromagnetic waves.

TL;DR: It is shown that Sesame significantly reduces model construction time through the use of modeling component libraries, hierarchy, and advanced model structure description features.
Abstract: The Sesame environment provides modeling and simulation methods and tools for the efficient design space exploration of heterogeneous embedded multimedia systems. In this paper we describe the Sesame software system and demonstrate its capabilities using several examples. We show that Sesame significantly reduces model construction time through the use of modeling component libraries, hierarchy, and advanced model structure description features.

TL;DR: Different mathematical models in terms of output position, speed, current, acceleration and torque, as well as corresponding simulink models, supporting MATLAB m.file and general function block models are to be introduced to simplify the process of DC motors sizing, selection, dynamic analysis and evaluation for different motion applications.
Abstract: The accurate control of motion is a fundamental concern in mechatronics applications, where placing an object in the exact desired location with the exact possible amount of force and torque at the correct exact time is essential for efficient system operation. An accurate modeling, simulation and dynamics analysis of actuators for mechatronics motion control applications is of big concern. The ultimate goal of this paper addresses different approaches used to derive mathematical models, building corresponding simulink models and dynamic analysis of the basic open loop electric DC motor system, used in mechatronics motion control applications, particularly, to design, construct and control of a mechatronics robot arm with single degree of freedom, and verification by MATLAB/Simulink. To simplify and accelerate the process of DC motors sizing, selection, dynamic analysis and evaluation for different motion applications, different mathematical models in terms of output position, speed, current, acceleration and torque, as well as corresponding simulink models, supporting MATLAB m.file and general function block models are to be introduced. The introduced models were verified using MATLAB/ Simulink. These models are intended for research purposes as well as for the application in educational process.

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of the switching medium thickness in terms of crosstalk between cells within the array was investigated for resistive random access memory (RRAM) arrays.
Abstract: Excellent resistance switching properties such as fast switching time ( 106), good retention (> 6 years) and endurance (> 105) are observed in nanoscale amorphous silicon based RRAM (resistive random access memory). To successfully integrate the RRAM array, circuit models of the device characteristics and effects of device configuration such as crosstalk between cells within the array need to be elucidated. To this end, we performed experiments on the junction configuration and device modeling to predict the device behavior and 3D electric field simulation to predict the effect of the switching medium thickness in terms of crosstalk during the writing process.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated grid-connection control and maximal wind power tracing control of generator based on stator field-oriented vector control technique, and verified the correctness and validity of the modeling and control of AC-exited VSCF wind power generator discussed in this paper.
Abstract: The function principle of AC-exited VSCF wind power generation system is discussed and the control task and run characteristic of doubly-fed asynchronous wind generator before and after grid-connection are analyzed in this paper. Grid-connection control and maximal wind power tracing control of generator are investigated based on stator field-oriented vector control technique. By modeling generator respectively and time-sharing simulation, the AC-exited VSCF wind power generation simulation system is founded, which includes two modules named grid-connection module and wind power tracing module. These modules in which generator model and control strategy are different can simulate the whole progress before and after grid-connection based on time-sharing and data-transferring method. Fully simulation verified the correctness and validity of the modeling and control of AC-exited VSCF wind power generator discussed in this paper.
