TL;DR: In this paper, the arrangement and direction of the constituents of the optical system are adjusted so that the pattern of Moire fringes, which are generated due to the superposition of a reference groove pattern and the interference fringe pattern between two fluxes of laser light upon another on the lattice surface of the reference plate 18a having a reference surface on which the reference mesh pattern is formed when the reference screen 18a is arranged on an exposed surface, may become coincident with the pattern that was theoretically found from the design parameter.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for adjusting exposing device by which an optical system can be adjusted easily with high accuracy in a short time. SOLUTION: The arrangement and direction of the constituents of the optical system are adjusted so that the pattern of Moire fringes, which are generated due to the superposition of a reference groove pattern and the interference fringe pattern between two fluxes of laser light upon another on the lattice surface of a reference plate 18a having a reference surface on which the reference groove pattern is formed when the reference plate 18a is arranged on an exposed surface, may become coincident with the pattern of Moire fringes theoretically found from the design parameter of the optical system. TL;DR: The oblique shadow method is shown that these theories of moiré depth contouring can be unified in a closed mathematical analysis and extended to the case of various media with different refractive indexes covering the surface of interest.
Abstract: Techniques to generate depth profiles of a surface by means of moire fringes have become well known in modern optics. Different mathematical theories of moire depth contouring have been developed using either communication theory or geometric ray tracing. For the oblique shadow method it is shown that these theories can be unified in a closed mathematical analysis. The analysis is extended to the case of various media with different refractive indexes covering the surface of interest.

TL;DR: Determination by means of the time-averaged shadow moire method of the vibrating phase of an arbitrary position on the object is presented, where the illumination angle of the reference grating is periodically oscillated at the same frequency as the object vibration.
Abstract: By the general time-averaged shadow moire method only amplitude distribution of an object vibration is recorded. In this paper determination by means of the time-averaged shadow moire method of the vibrating phase of an arbitrary position on the object is presented. In this method the illumination angle of the reference grating is periodically oscillated at the same frequency as the object vibration. Therefore, stationary contour fringes are shifted to a vibrating region that vibrates in-phase oscillation of the illumination angle. Accordingly it is possible to determine the vibration phase of each region on the object as the signal phase added to the illumination angle oscillator.

TL;DR: A method with two algorithms, which were respectively based on Fourier transform and the phase-shifting algorithm, was proposed and simulated to extract the characteristic parameter of the dual-spiral moiré fringes, which reflected the collimation condition directly.
Abstract: Based on moire phenomena and the Talbot self-imaging effect, dual-spiral moire fringes could be acquired with two spiral gratings. This kind of special moire fringes could be used to test the collimation of the light beam, which was significant in many correlative applications. The characteristic parameter of the dual-spiral moire fringes reflected the collimation condition directly. A method with two algorithms, which were respectively based on Fourier transform and the phase-shifting algorithm, was proposed and simulated to extract the characteristic parameter. The influence of the random noise on the extraction was also analyzed and discussed.

TL;DR: In this article, a plurality of halftone screen density data structures are used to create a screened halftones separation. But, the human eye is confused into perceiving continuous patterns and is less likely to perceive any Moire pattern than when using conventional methods.
Abstract: A plurality of halftone screen density data structures utilizing halftone dot patterns which arrays the halftone dots at preselected screen angles and at a preselected distance to create a screened halftone separation. By arraying the halftone dots at preselected screen angles, the human eye is confused into perceiving continuous patterns and is less likely to perceive any Moire pattern than when using conventional methods. The data structures are created by arranging for every halftone dot in at least one halftone dot pattern of the data structures to be surrounded by a plurality of dots having their dot centers at preselected screen angles and at a preselected distance from the dot center of the center halftone dot. The halftone dots are superimposed over a plurality of bits arranged as a bit map which is representative of a pixel format utilized to produce screens wherein each bit in the bit map is assigned a value in a predetermined fashion. The values are utilized when binary representations of the density of an image for a sampled area are transformed to pixel format. Through this process, the halftone screen density data structures are utilized to transform binary representations of images to a pixel format which is utilized to reproduce a desired artwork.
