TL;DR: A method based on multiple exposures in binomial mode of recording and its influence on curvature pattern is presented in this paper, where the curvature information is obtained as a beat moire between two sets of slope patterns, the multiple-exposure technique proposed in this paper can be implemented to sharpen the background slope fringes to enhance the visibility of curvature fringes.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a decorative sheet having a three-dimensional effect. SOLUTION: A fringe pattern 11 made of many parallel straight lines of a predetermined pitch is formed by printing on a front surface of a transparent sheet 10 having a thickness. A moire fringe 12 formed by using the pattern 11 of the surface is formed by printing. In this decorative sheet, a lattice-like moire pattern is obtained by a moire phenomenon in the case of observing from a front or rear surface. This moire pattern has a depth, and seen in a sense of sinking from the surface of the sheet 10 to be a stereoscopic sense.

Abstract: A detailed and comprehensive theoretical description of X-ray diffraction moire fringes for a bicrystal specimen is given on the basis of a calculation by plane-wave dynamical diffraction theory. Firstly, prior to discussing the main subject of the paper, a previous article [Yoshimura (1997). Acta Cryst. A53, 810–812] on the two-dimensionality of diffraction moire patterns is restated on a thorough calculation of the moire interference phase. Then, the properties of moire fringes derived from the above theory are explained for the case of a plane-wave diffraction image, where the significant effect of Pendellosung intensity oscillation on the moire pattern when the crystal is strained is described in detail with theoretically simulated moire images. Although such plane-wave moire images are not widely observed in a nearly pure form, knowledge of their properties is essential for the understanding of diffraction moire fringes in general.

Abstract: A positioning accuracy of a nanometer has been obtained by a precise positioning system using moire technique. Two precise position control techniques using moire signals have been investigated. One is a differential moire technique using two grating pairs in which the control signal is the differential signal between two moire signals. The other is a technique using one grating pair. The system using the latter technique is simpler in construction. However, in the former technique, since in-phase noises in the moire signals are cancelled and the effect of the drift of the laser intensity on the positioning accuracy is small, higher positioning accuracy is obtained than in the latter technique. The positioning accuracy of /spl plusmn/4 nm was obtained by optimization of the system.
