TL;DR: This paper reveals that the Moiré fringe visibility can be expressed as the product of a misalignment-angle-related "sinc" function and a relatively independent factor, and suggests that the crosstalk between the detector pixels in the direction perpendicular to the Moirs' fringe orientation is another main cause for the visibility reduction.
Abstract: Moire fringe method in X-ray grating interferometry is characterized by its advantage to obtain multi-contrast data through single-frame imaging However, how the visibility of the Moire fringe is influenced by the system parameters, such as the misalignment angle, still lacks investigation, although it closely relates to the signal-to-noise ratio of the image data In this paper, a simplified model of the Moire fringe visibility is presented, which reveals that the Moire fringe visibility can be expressed as the product of a misalignment-angle-related "sinc" function and a relatively independent factor The following experimental results further suggest that the crosstalk between the detector pixels in the direction perpendicular to the Moire fringe orientation is another main cause for the visibility reduction of the Moire fringes

TL;DR: A screening method is proposed which uses the Fourier transform for moire suppression and has the additional advantage that any pitch and any screen angle may be selected.
Abstract: Moire patterns are often observed in printing when the image is reproduced as a bilevel image with halftone A Fourier transform analysis of screening a picture by an optical method or an ordered dither method is presented Conventional moire—suppressing techniques are discussed considering the human visual system The moire fringes are explained as aliasing and visible moire fringes are especially due to high-frequency spectra with high power From this viewpoint, a screening method is proposed which uses the Fourier transform for moire suppression This method has the additional advantage that any pitch and any screen angle may be selected

TL;DR: In this article, a noise-immune method of phase retrieval of single moire interferometric fringe pattern is presented and discussed, which provides accurate recovering of the phase information by combined method based on modification of local histogram of the fringe intensity and two dimensional Fourier transform of enhanced moire fringe pattern.
Abstract: A noise-immune method of phase retrieval of single moire interferometric fringe pattern is presented and discussed. The method is shown to provide accurate recovering of the phase information by combined method based on modification of local histogram of the fringe intensity and two dimensional Fourier transform of enhanced moire fringe pattern. The principle of the method is described and the experimental results of moire interferometric measurements with submicron sensitivity of the in-plane displacement fields of thick carbon fiber/PEEK composite laminates are presented as example of application of the technique.

TL;DR: In this article, a non-destructive technique to measure strain over small areas of specimens in the scanning electron microscope (SEM) is described, which can quantitatively estimate localized strains due to mechanically induced damage with very high strain and spatial resolution sensitivities in a nondestructive fashion.

TL;DR: In this article, the distortion can be detected and measured using a composite image generated from a reference image having a first periodic pattern and print image, disposed on a test substrate media, having a second periodic pattern.
Abstract: Embodiments described herein are directed to detecting and/or measuring distortions of substrate media that can occur during a printing process. The distortion can be detected and/or measured using a composite image generated from a reference image having a first periodic pattern and print image, disposed on a test substrate media, having a second periodic pattern. The first and second periodic patterns are specified so that the composite image includes a moire pattern having moire fringes resulting from interference between the first periodic pattern associated with the reference image and the second periodic pattern associated with the print image. The moire fringes can be used to detect and calculate an amount of distortion of the test substrate media.
