TL;DR: Digital moire patterns are an effect seen in digital pictures when a high-contrast periodic object being imaged interferes with the periodic image detector in the camera.

TL;DR: In this article, the tilt angle of the moire fringes produced by the inclined grating planes in Talbot interferometry is studied under the illumination of a plane wave.
Abstract: Features of the moire fringes produced by the inclined grating planes in Talbot interferometry are studied under the illumination of a plane wave. Inclinations of the two grating planes are introduced by rotating the beam-splitter and the detector gratings around the axes parallel to the line directions of each grating, when the line directions of the two grating are different. Theoretical analyses indicate that the tilt angle of the moire fringes is sensitive to the inclination angle, and the analyses are supported by experimental results. Some simple and practical methods for judging and removing the inclinations are also discussed.

TL;DR: A computer simulation was used to perform a sensitivity analysis on the deflection mapping technique based on the moire effect and the best mode of experimental operation was found to be the construction of theMoire image by using a physical grid and a computer simulated grid.
Abstract: A computer simulation was used to perform a sensitivity analysis on the deflection mapping technique based on the moire effect. The refractive index and the temperature of a hot gas mixture were calculated. The accuracy of the method is shown to have strong dependence on the experimental accuracy. The best mode of experimental operation was found to be the construction of the moire image by using a physical grid and a computer simulated grid.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed two types of interactive fringe pattern analysis systems: RIFRAN I in which image processing technique is applied and sectional shape type model is built up semi-automatically.
Abstract: Fringe pattern such as interference fringe or moire fringe have been used widely to measure a surface shape, deformation, displacement and so on without contact. However, quantitative analysis of fringe pattern is not always so easy. In this paper, the authors developed two types of interactive fringe pattern analysis systems. One of them is called RIFRAN I in which image processing technique is applied and sectional shape type model is build up semi-automatically. Another one is called RIFRAN II in which tablet digitizer is provided for input of fringe positions and contour line type model is constructed. Furthermore, 3-D model processing systems are developed for proceeding analysis.
