TL;DR: This chapter covers signal processing algorithms that proved valuable in allowing proper imaging and image recovery in the presence of high clutter, caused by front walls, and multipath, cause by reflections from internal walls, in Through-the-Wall radar imaging.
Abstract: Through-the-Wall radar imaging (TWRI) is emerging as a viable technology for providing high quality imagery of enclosed structures. TWRI makes use of electromagnetic waves below the S-band to penetrate through building wall materials. The indoor scene can be illuminated from each antenna, and be reconstructed using the data from the receive antennas. Due to the “see”-through ability, TWRI has attracted much attention in the last decade with a variety of important civilian and military applications. For instance, this technology is employed for surveillance and detection of humans and interior objects in urban environments, and for search and rescue operations in military situations. In this chapter, we cover signal processing algorithms that proved valuable in allowing proper imaging and image recovery in the presence of high clutter, caused by front walls, and multipath, caused by reflections from internal walls. Specifically, we focus on ground-based imaging systems which are relatively mature, and discuss wall mitigation techniques, multipath exploitation methods, change detection of moving target, and compressive sensing for fast data acquisition.

TL;DR: The adaptive detection performance potential of aerospace moving target indication radar employing a conformal antenna array is examined and it is found that additional adaptive losses exceed 12 dB as a result of conformal geometry-induced clutter non-stationarity.

TL;DR: The results show that the bistatic MIMO-STAP outperforms its SIMO counterparts in both signal interference and noise ratio (SINR) and SINR loss.
Abstract: Bistatic multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar systems have the advantages of both bistatic radar and MIMO radar. In addition, the transmit angle can be obtained by processing the receive data. In this paper, bistatic MIMO and space-time adaptive processing (STAP) are applied to ground moving target indication (GMTI). It is shown that the clutter spectrum is a curve in 3-dimensions (transmit angle, receive angle and Doppler frequency) after compensation. The performances of single input multiple-output (SIMO) and MIMO cases are compared. The results show that the bistatic MIMO-STAP outperforms its SIMO counterparts in both signal interference and noise ratio (SINR) and SINR loss.

TL;DR: A probabilistic logic based tracker is developed for local motion feature aided tracking by using local motion features extracted from high resolution range (HRR) profiles to assist data association.
Abstract: Tracking ground moving targets with ground moving target indicator (GMTI) measurements only could face a potential problem of losing tracks or track mingling, if the targets move together within the range of GMTI sensing uncertainty for an extended period of time. We propose a remedy for this problem by using local motion features extracted from high resolution range (HRR) profiles to assist data association. Unlike other HRR features, the new local motion features carry both spatial and temporal information and are ideal for feature aided tracking. A probabilistic logic based tracker is developed for local motion feature aided tracking.
