TL;DR: A new methodology of summarization is proposed, in which the emphasis is put on the fact that the summary should be necessarily and sufficiently informative as well as condensed, and reader-oriented rather than text-oriented.
Abstract: A summary has to be a condensed statement of a given text containing the necessary and sufficient information for its readers. All the research on automatic text summarization, however, have been conducted to get a short condensation of a given text's content. We propose a new methodology of summarization, in which the emphasis is put on the fact that the summary should be necessarily and sufficiently informative as well as condensed. This means that the summary should be reader-oriented rather than text-oriented. Also, we introduce a tentative version of our automatic text summarization system-ROSE (Reader-Oriented Summarization Engine)-to show experimental results of the reader-oriented summarization. >
