TL;DR: A framework for analysis and processing of multimedia systems integrating e.g. video, audio and text is presented, envisaged by definition to be invariant under the gauge group and to be robust to Lyapunov and structural instabilities due to various noise types and severe morphological transformations.
Abstract: We present a framework for analysis and processing of multimedia systems integrating e.g. video, audio and text. The analysis consists of various initialisations of multimedia in terms of joint (non-)local geometric and topological equivalences invariant under a so-called gauge group. Various initialisations of equivalences can readily be used as means to (re)- structure, query and search content-based relational associative multimedia database systems. The processing consists of multimedia consistent filtration schemes of those equivalences. These analysis-related filtration schemes are envisaged by definition to be invariant under the gauge group and to be robust to Lyapunov and structural instabilities due to various noise types and severe morphological transformations, respectively. The latter invariance and robustness allow us to construct distinctive (task-oriented) discriminative multimedia database systems. The filtration schemes are finally described in terms of (non-)local symmetries, conservation laws and curvatures. These descriptions then form the ingredients for natural transformations between the schemes that actually bridge the semantic gaps between different multimedia database systems.

TL;DR: In this paper, a system and method for making multimedia bookmarks applicable to an electronic apparatus having a multimedia database for storing multimedia data therein and a display processing program for leafing through multimedia data stored in the multimedia database and providing bookmark display selection interfaces.
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for making multimedia bookmarks applicable to an electronic apparatus having a multimedia database for storing multimedia data therein and a display processing program for leafing through multimedia data stored in the multimedia database and providing bookmark display selection interfaces. The method includes the steps of: setting configuring locations of multimedia bookmarks and corresponding identification messages; recognizing multimedia data currently processed by display processing program based on the setting result; acquiring corresponding identification message data of multimedia data; and according to the preset configuring location, calculating a corresponding time deviation volume and/or page code message to the configuring location; according to the acquired identification message data and time deviation volume and the preset capturing rules, capturing the required multimedia data from the multimedia database and interrelating and the captured data with the preset identification message and storing the same; and when the display processing program proceeds to the bookmark display selection interface, searching and displaying a corresponding multimedia data and identification message selected from the current bookmark display selection interface to thereby make a multimedia bookmark. This invention can overcome the drawbacks of prior techniques in which electronic bookmark data cannot be accurately and rapidly searched because of the unaltered format or unclear instructions.

TL;DR: A Profile based Feature Identification system for multimedia database systems which is capable of storing educational video clips with their semantics and retrieving required video clip segments efficiently on their semantics.
Abstract: Use of video clips for e-learning is very limited due to the high usage of band width The ability to select and retrieve relevant video clips using semantics addresses this problem This paper presents a Profile based Feature Identification system for multimedia database systems which is designed to support the use of video clips for elearning This system is capable of storing educational video clips with their semantics and retrieving required video clip segments efficiently on their semantics The system creates profiles of presenters appearing in the video clips based on their facial features and uses these profiles to partition similar video clips into logical meaningful segments The face recognition algorithm used by the system is based on the Principal Components Analysis (PCA) approach However PCA algorithm has been modified to cope with the face recognition in video key frames Several improvements have been proposed to increase the face recognition rate and the overall performance of the system

TL;DR: A method of maintenance part information retrieval, applied to a multimedia database of elevator parts, is presented and shown to be feasible and effective.
Abstract: In this paper is presented a method of maintenance part information retrieval, applied to a multimedia database of elevator parts. In design and maintenance sections, there are needs to treat multimedia data suchas images and graphs, used for non-procedural operations, as CAD and office automation systems become disseminated. We developed a prototype system for retrieval of maintenance part information, applied to a multimedia database of elevator parts, to beused for ordering the needed information for maintenance. Conventionally, these neededpart information are searched and ordered by a maintenance engineer with cumbersome process. Namely, the engineer must select appropriate parts according both to the specifications of the elevator to be maintained, and to the description in documents foreach maintenance part.In our system, the elevator parts, which have complex hierarchical structure, are modelled by object-oriented technology. Thus, a maintenance engineer can easily retrieve and order the needed part information, guided by the computer system, utilizing

TL;DR: This paper describes the process of designing and building a multimedia database that will be used for Chinese audiovisual bimodal speech recognition, and maps the theoretic database model to the current relational database system produced.
Abstract: This paper describes the process of designing and building a multimedia database that will be used for Chinese audiovisual bimodal speech recognition. For the sake of reuse in further project and system's extendable ability, the project uses an object oriented method to analyse the requirement and designs the system. Finally, to realizing this object oriented database system model with a current relation database management system, the project maps the theoretic database model to the current relational database system produced. In this way, the whole project not only has the flexibility of the object oriented design method, but also applies the powerful data management and network ability of the current relational database system.
