TL;DR: A generic and customizable framework for specifying an image query execution plan that permits the DBMS to optimize and execute parallel image processing in multimedia database systems.
Abstract: The paper describes the design concept and the implementation of the imaging database, Online Image Delivery System (OLIDS). We propose a new framework to support vertically parallel image processing in multimedia database systems. We present a generic and customizable framework for specifying an image query execution plan that permits the DBMS to optimize and execute parallel image processing. Moreover, it is important to provide the multimedia applications with the capability for customizing the information server according to specific requirements. This customization capability also provides both challenges and opportunities in building high performance multimedia and image systems. Applications such as Active hypermedia project or MODOS (Museum project between LRMF (France), NMWA and NACSIS (Japan)) demonstrate the usefulness of the customizable feature of the application oriented DBMS, Phasme, a microkernel database system, tested and extended inside NACSIS.

TL;DR: In this article, a system built evaluation model with a general diver, the content designer can choose an evaluation model from the database and input parameters for establish an evaluation system efficiently, therefore, it is easy to improve the schedule, cost for developing on interactive evaluate system.
Abstract: Method and apparatus for Automatic generate Interactive evaluate systems in E-learning includes selection module, user interface generator, multimedia synchronization generator, and system browser. Based on the system predefined evaluation model database and multimedia database, we have posed a space with human nature it makes possible for each user to freely obtain evaluation system they want. With the system built evaluation model with a general diver, the content designer can choose an evaluation model from the database and input parameters for establish an evaluation system efficiently. The invention has taken the advantage of the interactive evaluate system implementation, therefore, it is easy to improve the schedule, cost for developing on interactive evaluate system.

TL;DR: This paper designs an antique coin image retrieval (ACIR) system using synthetic features, which includes the histogram of centroid distance as a coarse feature descriptor and the modified moment invariants as a fine feature descriptor.
Abstract: Multimedia database retrieval is a key technology used to construct a modern digital museum. The antique coin images are the important component parts of multimedia database in digital museum. In this paper, we design an antique coin image retrieval (ACIR) system using synthetic features. The synthetic features include two parts: one is the histogram of centroid distance (HCD) as a coarse feature descriptor and the other is the modified moment invariants (MMI) as a fine feature descriptor. HCD is a contour-based shape feature descriptor with great efficiency when the shapes of objects in two target images have obvious differences. MMI is a region-based feature descriptor which can well distinguish interior details of images. A Synthetic feature matching strategy is proposed to measure the similarity between the query image and database images. The experimental results demonstrate that the algorithm of synthetic feature matching is effective and efficient in ACIR system. And we also believe that our work can dedicate to the construction of digital museum.

TL;DR: A new use of CBIR approach is presented in an important application that can assist law enforcement in solving many complicated crimes by matching forensic sketch with digital human face or face sketch recognition system.
Abstract: Content Based Image Retrieval has been one of the most popular topics in the computer vision literature. CBIR offers the opportunity to research from a huge multimedia database and with appropriate methods the relevant collections of images that have characteristics similar to the case(s) of interest. In the forensic field, CBIR has many possible uses in crime fighting and has also been investigated as a potential image-based search technology. This paper presents a new use of CBIR approach in an important application that can assist law enforcement in solving many complicated crimes. It is matching forensic sketch with digital human face or face sketch recognition system.
