TL;DR: In this article, the same password is used for both starting up the network management software, and for acquiring information and making settings in the target network device, so that password entry for access to a network device can be omitted.
Abstract: A network device control unit and method are provided in which the same password is used for both starting up the network management software, and for acquiring information and making settings in the target network device, so that password entry for access to a network device can be omitted and the operability of network management software can be greatly improved. To implement the unit and method, the password entered by the user at start-up of NetSpot is detected, and when the network device to be controlled is selected, the password previously set to control access to this selected network device is acquired. Then this network device password is compared with the NetSpot password, and when the passwords match each other, the password entry for that network device is omitted and the detailed information for that network device is acquired and displayed.

TL;DR: In this article, the status information of an electronic device group is displayed on a display unit of a terminal based on the received status information, and a screen for prompting input of a control instruction of the home-located electronic devices that are included in the group.
Abstract: A security system 63 and an electronic device group 62 to be stored in a home network 6 are controlled by a home server 61 . A home network management facility 5 obtains status information of the electronic device group 62 from home server 61 . Home network management facility 5 displays the status of electronic device group 62 on a display unit of a terminal 1 based on the received status information. Home network management facility 5 also displays a screen for prompting input of a control instruction of the home-located electronic devices that are included in the electronic device group 62 . Based on control instruction received via home server 61 , home network management facility 5 performs remote control of electronic device group 62.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe a system consisting of a message retrieval module configured to retrieve electronic messages and parse them into a plurality of tasks, which can also include a task creation module that processes the message to identify task information and one or more task recipients.
Abstract: Systems and methods for creating and sharing tasks over one or more networks are disclosed. In one embodiment, a system comprises a message retrieval module configured to retrieve electronic messages and parse them into a plurality of tasks. The system can also include a task creation module configured to process the message to identify task information and one or more task recipients. The task creation module can also be configured to create a task based on the identified task information. A task notification module can be configured to notify the one or more task recipients about the created task. The system may also include a multi-layer network management module configured to organize the tasks and task participants into multiple networks and clouds and into a federation of clouds. The system can also include a task analytics module programmed to analyze the tasks performed by users of the system.

TL;DR: In this article, a logistic regression model is constructed to explain the probability of network formation; five major groups of explanatory variables are included: institutional, programmatic, managerial, political, and socioeconomic.
Abstract: There is a small, although well-established body of literature examining network performance and accountability. In addition, there are relatively few studies which examine potential factors for determining network formation. The current study provides a systematic analysis of network formation determinants. A logistic regression model is constructed to explain the probability of network formation; five major groups of explanatory variables are included: institutional, programmatic, managerial, political, and socioeconomic. Data for this study were collected between 2003 and 2005 from 411 programs at the subnational governance level of Thailand as part of a larger study on the management of local governments. The analysis shows that the most significant variables in determining network formation include the nature of the programs and management capacity. Local political climate also has a significant effect on network formation, but only indirectly. The study also reveals that collaborations in educational and cultural promotion programs are still restricted, which differs from the experiences in many developed countries. This study illustrates the importance of programmatic, managerial, and political contexts that administrators may consider when forming networks.
