TL;DR: The scale-free topology ofliving networks may afford an immediate insight into the way to target living networks, although its utility is limited by the inherent adaptability of living networks.
Abstract: Publisher Summary Networks are ensembles of nodes connected into a single computational device Originally intended to model nerve cells and electrical amplifiers connected by fixed axons or wires, networks are used to model any ensemble of interacting elements They are fast, robust, handle patterned data well, and require no external programming They can be built of simple repeated modules using a limited set of rules All these features make them ideal for application in living systems Networks are the preferred architecture for all intelligent biosystems, from the cytoplasm to large ecosystems The brain, which is the original inspiration for network theory, is just the latest version of a network paradigm that originated with the advent of life itself Network theory allows a deeper insight into the intellect of biological machines, including the cancerous cell, the diseased brain, and the vertebrate immune system The scale-free topology of living networks may afford an immediate insight into the way to target living networks, although its utility is limited by the inherent adaptability of living networks

TL;DR: In this article, the authors explore the connections of stochastic block model with information theory and explore the state-of-the-art on the connections on information theory on community detection in real world complex networks.
Abstract: Real world complex networks possess hidden information called communities or clusters, which are composed of nodes that are tightly connected within communities and weakly connected between communities. Investigation of communities proved to have countless applications in different sciences such as computer science and machine learning, biology, economics, and social networks. Parallel to the development of various detection algorithms, probabilistic network models also gained more attention, particularly stochastic block model which is a generative model for random graphs generating networks with community structure. This paper explores the state of the art on the connections of stochastic block model with information theory

TL;DR: In this article, the authors take network theory as a new perspective and network relationship as studying point, analyzed the documents on influence of internal network structure and network capacity on cluster risk transmission and diffusion, studied the influence of network structure (at meso level) on CH risk (at macro level) from the perspective of enterprise network capacity (at micro level).
Abstract: As an important factor influencing regional economic development, cluster risk has attracted attentions of more and more scholars. The paper took network theory as a new perspective and network relationship as studying point, analyzed the documents on influence of internal network structure and network capacity on cluster risk transmission and diffusion, studied the influence of network structure (at meso level) on cluster risk (at macro level) from the perspective of enterprise network capacity (at micro level), and constructed the cross level analysis model of cluster risk transmission and diffusion.

TL;DR: This paper explored Google's network expansion through acquisitions by integrating two different perspectives -strategic brand management and network theory - in order to fill the gap in the existing branding literature in relation to network theory.
Abstract: The purpose or the study is to explore Google’s network expansion through acquisitions by integrating two different perspectives - Strategic Brand Management and Network Theory - in order to fill the gap in the existing branding literature in relation to network theory In addition to Strategic Brand Management and Network Theory, the study also explores literature that is related to interrelatedness of networks and their impact on corporate brand identity and reputation as well as corporate and business strategy in relation to brand and market orientation Furthermore, brand architecture helped us to identify the branding relationships between acquisitions and the acquiring company In methodological terms, the research method chosen to conduct this study involves the analysis of a case study with embedded cases which is supported by content analysis of secondary data Our three main contributions in academic terms include the following; (1) the integration of two approaches in order to achieve a more comprehensive understanding of network expansion through acquisitions, (2) the identification of corporate brand identity as a key component to maintain consistency between the two perspectives for the integration process and (3) the determination that a synergistic relationship between corporate strategy and corporate brand strategy allows a network to undertake radical changes in the network without compromising its overall identity Our three main managerial implications are the following; (1) the explanation of the impact that the expansion of a network can have on corporate brand identity, (2) the development of a broader and more flexible framework that can be used to identify the compatibility between the acquisitions and the acquiring party’s corporate brand identity and (3) the identification of four specific corporate brand identity elements that can particularly impact on the corporate brand level in a tech acquisition context
