TL;DR: The Relative Area Index (RAI) as mentioned in this paper quantifies the importance of an individual node relevant to the performance of the entire network when it suffers from capacity reduction at a local scale.
Abstract: The European air traffic network (ATN), consisting of a set of airports and area control centres, is highly complex. The current indicator of its performance, air traffic flow management delays, is insufficient for planning and management purposes. Topological analysis of ATNs of this kind has highlighted betweenness centrality (BC) as an indicator of network robustness, although such an indicator assumes no knowledge of actual traffic flows and the network's operational characteristics. This paper conducts topological and operational analyses of the European ATN in order to derive a more relevant and appropriate indicator of robustness. By applying a flow maximisation model to the network influenced by a range of capacity reductions at the local level, we propose a new index called the Relative Area Index (RAI). The RAI quantifies the importance of an individual node relevant to the performance of the entire network when it suffers from capacity reduction at a local scale. Air traffic data from three typ...

TL;DR: In this article, a data acquisition monitor is provided for monitoring one or more traffic pattern parameters associated with the call traffic through the telecommunications switch, and an analyzer analyzes the traffic pattern information and maintains traffic parameter profiles in a suitable database.
Abstract: A system and method of dynamically allocating memory records to a plurality of blocks in a telecommunications switch. A data acquisition monitor is provided for monitoring one or more traffic pattern parameters associated with the call traffic through the telecommunications switch. An analyzer analyzes the traffic pattern information and maintains traffic parameter profiles in a suitable database. Also, the analyzer determines if there exists a change in demand of service based on the monitored traffic pattern parameters. A command generator provides a feedback signal to the telecommunications switch to re-assign memory records based on the changes in demand of service.

TL;DR: The simulation results show that the random network is an optimal traffic structure, in which the traffic congestion is smaller than others, and the regular network is the worst topology which is prone to be congested.

TL;DR: Three different models used in simulation: system dynamic, agent based simulation and discrete event simulation are discussed, in context of features, advantages, disadvantages and tools being used in each simulation method.
Abstract: Simulation model is one of the methods commonly used in Operational Research in order to represent the real situation that occurs in a system as well as to test the scenario based on different behavior. In this paper we discuss about three different models used in simulation: system dynamic, agent based simulation and discrete event simulation. The aim of this paper is to compare all these three methods in context of features, advantages, disadvantages and tools being used in each simulation method. The comparison of this paper also includes the classification of simulation model using taxonomy. Throughout this paper, we view a few software tools usually being used in a simulation like Vensim, ProModel and AnyLogic.

TL;DR: The main idea of the algorithm is that flow grouping based on their relationships will increase the accuracy of P2P traffic analysis, which is the most complicated traffic among newly emerging Internet traffic.
Abstract: One of the main problems with today’s Internet traffic analysis is caused by the large number of network-based applications whose types and traffic patterns are more complicated than in the past. Today, peer-to-peer (P2P), streaming media, and game traffic are continuously increasing. The difficulty the traffic analysis is that this newly emerging traffic is not as simple as past well-known port based traffic. This paper focuses on analyzing P2P traffic, which is the most complicated traffic among newly emerging Internet traffic. We describe the properties of P2P traffic and explain why P2P traffic analysis is more difficult than other types of Internet traffic analysis. Next, we propose a new algorithm suitable for P2P traffic analysis. The main idea of our algorithm is that flow grouping based on their relationships will increase the accuracy of P2P traffic analysis.
