TL;DR: It is believed that the as-synthesized CdS/Cu7S4/g-C3N4 ternary heterostructures can be promising noble metal-free catalysts for enhanced hydrogen production from photocatalytic water splitting.
Abstract: Hydrogen production through photocatalytic water splitting has attracted much attention because of its potential to solve the issues of environmental pollution and energy shortage. In this work, CdS/Cu7S4/g-C3N4 ternary heterostructures are fabricated by ion exchange between CdS and Cu+ and subsequent ultrasonication-assisted self-assembly of CdS/Cu7S4 and g-C3N4, which provide excellent visible-light photocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution without any noble metal cocatalyst. With the presence of p–n junction, tuned band gap alignments, and higher charge carrier density in the CdS/Cu7S4/g-C3N4 ternary heterostructures that can effectively promote the spatial separation and prolong the lifetime of photogenerated electrons, a high hydrogen evolution rate of 3570 μmol g–1 h–1, an apparent quantum yield of 4.4% at 420 nm, and remarkable recycling stability are achieved. We believe that the as-synthesized CdS/Cu7S4/g-C3N4 ternary heterostructures can be promising noble metal-free catalysts for enhanced ...

TL;DR: In this paper, the oxidation of CO by O2 was investigated in an isothermal fixed-bed microreactor under intrinsic conditions, i.e., in the absence of mass and heat transfer limitations, in the temperature range from 436 to 503 K, with CO and O2inlet partial pressures between 0.12 and 8.5.

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of noble metal-based materials for supercapacitor electrodes is presented, including carbonaceous materials, metals and transition metal oxides or hydroxides, and a variety of synthetic methods such as hydrothermal/solvothermal methods, polymerization, and electrodeposition methods are also discussed.
Abstract: Noble metal-based materials have been intensively investigated as good additives of electrode materials for supercapacitors, since they can improve the specific capacitance, conductivity, and chemical and thermal stabilities of the electrode materials. This review carefully summarizes noble metal-based materials for high-performance supercapacitor electrodes. The advances of hybrid electrodes are then assessed to include hybrid systems of noble metal-based materials with compounds such as carbonaceous materials, metals and transition metal oxides or hydroxides. A variety of synthetic methods such as hydrothermal/solvothermal methods, polymerization, and electrodeposition methods are also discussed to prepare noble metal-based materials. This review comprehensively summarizes and evaluates the recent progress in the research on noble metal-based electrode materials for supercapacitors, including synthesis methods, electrochemical performances, and related devices.

TL;DR: In this paper, a review discusses the synthesis and the possible applications of nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes as supports for metal nanoparticles in heterogeneous catalysis, and discusses the applications of carbon-based supports for noble metal catalysts.
Abstract: The science and technology of catalysis is of fundamental importance to a national economy. Today about 90% of all technical chemicals are manufactured by the use of catalysts. Nanoparticles of noble metals are extremely important materials in the catalysis industry due to cost issues and properties that are not found in their bulk state. An efficient way to produce and stabilise noble metal nanoparticles is by dispersion on a suitable support. Carbon-based supports, such as carbon nanotubes, carbon spheres, carbon fibres, etc., have been found to be good supports for metal nanoparticles. However, to be used effectively, the carbon surface must be modified either by functionalisation or doping. This review discusses the synthesis and the possible applications of nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes as supports for metal nanoparticles in heterogeneous catalysis.
