TL;DR: A detailed study of the thermal and photochemical behavior of Cu(HB(pz)/sub 3/)(CO) in the presence of norbornadiene (NBD) is reported in this article.
Abstract: A detailed study of the thermal and photochemical behavior of Cu(HB(pz)/sub 3/)(CO) in which (HB(pz)/sub 3//sup -/is hydrotris(1-pyrazolyl)borate) in the presence of norbornadiene (NBD) is reported. In solution NBD displaces CO from the coordination sphere of copper to produce a new complex formulated as Cu(HB(pz)/sub 3/)(NBD). This ground-state process is readily discernible by a shift in the absorption spectrum of the system to longer wavelengths. Irradiation of the complex with 313-nm light induces the valence isomerization of norbornadiene to quadricyclene with high quantum efficiency. The occurrence of this pathway is explicable in terms of the bonding changes that result from populating an excited state possessing Cu-NBD charge-transfer character.

TL;DR: In this paper, density functional theory calculations at the B3lyP level have been performed to understand the mechanism of the rearrangement of the η 4 -nbd ligand to the species initiating the ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) reaction in the coordination sphere of the molybdenum(II) complexes 2 and 3, which together with complex 1 are representative examples of experimental complexes in which such a transformation takes place.

TL;DR: New allylic complexes of ruthenium(II) of the type [Ru(all)2(diolefin)] (all = allyl or 2-methylallyl; dioellefin cyclo-octa-1,5-diene or norbornadiene) are described in this paper.
Abstract: New allylic complexes of ruthenium(II) of the type [Ru(all)2(diolefin)](all = allyl or 2-methylallyl; diolefin cyclo-octa-1,5-diene or norbornadiene) are described. The allylic ligands in these complexes are asymmetrically bonded. The complexes react with allyl halides to give halogeno-bridged complexes of the type [Ru2X2(all)2(diolefin)2](X = Cl or Br). On treatment with triphenylphosphine cyclo-octa-1,5-diene is displaced from [Ru(2-methylallyl)2C8H12] giving [Ru(2-methylallyl)2(PPh3)2]. This in turn reacts with carbon monoxide to give [Ru(CO)3(PPh3)2] and 2,5-dimethylhexa-1,5-diene. Nuclear magnetic resonance and far-infrared data are given.

TL;DR: In this paper, various epoxy monomers containing benzophenone (BP) groups were synthesized by reactions of potassium or lithium salts of BP derivatives with excess epichlorohydrin or epibromohydrin using tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB) as a phase transfer catalyst.
Abstract: Various epoxy monomers containing benzophenone (BP) groups were synthesized by reactions of potassium or lithium salts of BP derivatives with excess epichlorohydrin or epibromohydrin using tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB) as a phase transfer catalyst (PTC). The copolymerization of glycidyl 3-(piperidylcarbonyl)-2,5-norbornadiene-2-carboxylate (GPNC), which was prepared by the reaction of epichlorohydrin with potassium carboxylate of a norbornadiene (NBD) derivative using a PTC, and (glycidyloxy)benzophenone with phthalic anhydride (PAn) proceeded in 93% yield using TBAB as a catalyst in sulfolane at 100 C for 24 h to give self-photosensitizing polyester P-1 containing a pendant NBD moiety and a pendant 4-oxybenzophenone group. Copolymerizations of various epoxy monomers containing certain NBD moieties and BP groups with PAn produced corresponding polyesters with pendant NBD moieties and BP groups in good yields. The photochemical valence isomerizations of the NBD moieties and the photosensitizing isomeri...
