Abstract: Copolymerization of 1-hexene with a symmetrical diene, namely 2,5-norbornadiene was studied using four different metallocene catalysts. Copolymerization was found to occur exclusively through one of the two equally reactive endocyclic double bonds with all the four catalysts. Copolymerization results in low molecular weight oligomers with the number average molecular weight (M n ) varying from 1 000-3 000. End group analysis of the co-oligomers revealed that the β-hydrogen transfer after 2,1 insertion also occurs in the presence of highly regiospecific catalysts. The regio errors were also found to depend on various reaction parameters such as polymerization time, Al/Zr mol ratio, metallocene concentration and polymerization temperature.

Abstract: — Oxetanes were synthesized by 1,2-photoaddition of benzophenone to several methyl-substituted furans. The photochemical conversion of oxobicyclic analogues of norbornadiene to the corresponding oxoquadricyclenes was studied, and finally the sensitized 1,2-photoaddition of citraconic anhydride to furan was accomplished. RESUMEN Se han sintetizado oxetanos por fotoadicion 1,2 de benzofenona a distintos metil furanos. Se ha estudiado la conversion fotoquimica de analogos oxobiciclicos del norbonadieno, y finalmente se ha logrado la fotoadicion 1,2 sensitivizada de anhidrido citraconico a furano.
