TL;DR: In this article, the effect of hydrogen on the SCR of NOx with a hydrocarbon reaction was investigated, and it was found that hydrogen had a remarkable effect on the temperature range over which NOx could be reduced during the reaction with octane.
Abstract: The effect of the addition of hydrogen on the SCR of NOx with a hydrocarbon reaction was investigated. It was found that hydrogen had a remarkable effect on the temperature range over which NOx could be reduced during the SCR reaction with octane. Reduction of NOx was initiated at as low a temperature as 100 °C and >95% NOx conversion was achieved over a temperature range of 200–450 °C. Hydrogen has the effect of activating octane at lower temperatures and also promotes the oxidation of NO to NO2 in the absence of hydrocarbon. Transient kinetic and in situ DRIFTS measurements indicated that hydrogen has a direct role in the reaction mechanism by either promoting the formation and storage of an organic C = N species which can then readily reduce NOx and/or removing a species which acts as a poison to the SCR reaction at low temperatures.

TL;DR: In this article, the impact of decanol (n-D) and DTBP on biodiesel/diesel blends on the research engine has been investigated and it has been shown that 10% of DTBP and decanol inclusion can optimize diesel engine emissions, combustion, and performance with undergoing any modifications.

TL;DR: In this paper, a low-temperature selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NOx with ammonia in the presence of excess oxygen was performed using N2 adsorption-desorption, X-ray diffraction (XRD), temperature programmed reduction (TPR), and temperature programmed desorption (TPD).
Abstract: Novel Mn–Zr mixed oxide catalysts have been prepared by the citric acid method for the low-temperature selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NOx with ammonia in the presence of excess oxygen. They have been characterized by a series of techniques, specifically N2 adsorption–desorption, X-ray diffraction (XRD), temperature programmed reduction (TPR), temperature programmed desorption (TPD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). It was found that an Mn(0.5)–ZrOx-450 (Mn/(Mn + Zr) mole ratio of 0.5) catalyst showed the highest activity, giving 100% NOx conversion at 100 °C with a space velocity of 30 000 h–1. XRD results suggested that an Mn–Zr solid solution was formed in the Mn(0.5)–ZrOx-450 catalyst, with highly dispersed MnOx. TPR data indicated a strong interaction between the zirconium oxide and manganese oxide, which improved the reduction ability of the MnOx. The TPD results indicated that an appropriate NH3 adsorption ability was beneficial for the low-temperature SCR. The catalyst showed a c...

TL;DR: Emissions from a spark-ignition heavy-duty urban bus engine with a three-way catalyst, fuelled with compressed natural gas (CNG), were chemically analyzed and tested for genotoxicity, and the results obtained show that the SI CNG engine emissions were nearly 50 times lower for carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), 20 timesLower for formaldehyde, and more than 30 times higher for particulate matter (PM).
