TL;DR: A plasma jet is characterized by a plasma jet flame opening mainly in the form of a slit which produces a stable and powerful jet flame in the case of sheet-film or sector, and a long and slender cylindrical plasma jet torch with a slit nozzle fixed at the end was characterized by its use for boring deep into reinforced concrete as discussed by the authors.

TL;DR: In this article, a method for generating fine sprays of molten metal for spray coating and wder making is described, where liquid metal is fed via a melt tube to a nozzle that is shaped like the frustrum of a cone and surrounded with gas jets in a coaxial pattern around the melt tube orifice.
Abstract: A method for generating fine sprays of molten metal for spray coating and wder making is disclosed. Liquid metal is fed via a melt tube to a nozzle that is shaped like the frustrum of a cone. The nozzle is surrounded with gas jets in a coaxial pattern around the melt tube orifice. High pressure gas causes the formation of a low pressure region immediately next to the melt tube orifice that draws metal out of the orifice at a higher rate than would otherwise be the case. The coaxial gas stream atomizes the metal into droplets and thereafter forms a narrow, supersonic spray containing very fine metal droplets suitable for powder making or application of a coating.

TL;DR: An ink-jet recording device with an ink-head unit, a head holder, and a wiper unit is described in this article, where the ink head unit extends in a direction that intersects at right angles to the direction a recording medium is transported, for a distance equal to or longer than the width of the recording medium.
Abstract: An ink-jet recording apparatus according to this invention has an ink-head unit, a head holder, and a wiper unit. The ink-head unit extends in a direction that intersects at right angles to the direction a recording medium is transported, for a distance equal to or longer than the width of the recording medium. The head holder holds the ink-head unit. The ink-head unit has a nozzle surface having nozzles for ejecting ink. The wiper unit has a wiper blade, which wipes the nozzle surface.

TL;DR: A liquid dispensing nozzle assembly is provided for mounting on a liquid container and dispenser having a flexible wall and liquid storage cavity for manually squeezed dispensing of a liquid from the cavity through the nozzle assembly as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A liquid dispensing nozzle assembly is provided for mounting on a liquid container and dispenser having a flexible wall and liquid storage cavity for manually squeezed dispensing of a liquid from the cavity through the nozzle assembly. The nozzle assembly maintains the liquid, such as contact lens saline solution, in sterile condition during storage and repeated dispensing of the liquid from the container cavity. The nozzle assembly includes a liquid conduit for communication from the container cavity to a liquid discharge port from the nozzle assembly to enable dispensing of the liquid displaced by manually squeezing the flexible wall of the container. The nozzle assembly also includes an air aspiration conduit separate from the liquid conduit for aspirating air into the container cavity to replace the dispensed liquid. The nozzle assembly includes a partitioned diaphragm including separate portions respectively included in the liquid conduit and the air aspiration conduit. The air conduit portion of the diaphragm can include a filter which is hydrophobic and air permeable but impermeable to bacteria to prevent entrainment of bacteria with the aspirating flow of air into the liquid storage cavity of the container.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a drop volume normalization of the ink jet nozzles in an ink jet printing operation to alleviate and/or eliminate banding effects due to imprecise placement of ink drops on the printed sheet and variations in the volume of drops produced by different ink jets of the print device.
Abstract: The present invention is generally directed to providing drop volume normalization of the ink jet nozzles in an ink jet printing operation to alleviate and/or eliminate banding effects due to imprecise placement of ink drops on the printed sheet and variations in the volume of drops produced by different ink jet nozzles of the print device. Exemplary embodiments relate to a method and apparatus for controlling a print device having at least one ink jet nozzle by adjusting an offset control of a power supply used to control drop volume of the at least one ink jet nozzle. In a print device configured with piezoelectric ink jet nozzles, the output drop volume of the nozzle can be controlled within a predetermined range by adjusting the voltage supplied to the ink jet nozzle. As those skilled in the art will appreciate, this offset control of drop volume will result in a change to output ink velocity as well. Accordingly, exemplary embodiments of the present invention further compensate a firing time of the at least one ink jet nozzle as a function of the offset control to account for a change in output ink velocity of the at least one ink jet nozzle.
