TL;DR: In this article, a blasting machine utilizing sublimable particles comprising forming means (14) for producing particles having a substantially uniform length, dispensing means (32) for receiving the particles and for introducing the particles into a low pressure transport gas flow, and a nozzle (44) for accelerating the particles.
Abstract: A blasting machine utilizing sublimable particles comprising forming means (14) for producing particles having a substantially uniform length thereto, dispensing means (32) for receiving the particles and for introducing the particles into a low pressure transport gas flow, and a nozzle (44) for accelerating the particles and having a high pressure, low velocity gas flow coupled to it, the nozzle (44) being adapted to convert the high pressure, low velocity gas flow into a low pressure, high velocity gas flow. A conduit (142) coupled to the nozzle (44) and the dispensing means (32) receives the particles and introduces the particles into the low pressure, high velocity gas flow within the nozzle (44) which entrains the particles and accelerates them to a high exit velocity.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of ambient density, distance from the wall to the nozzle, and injection pressure on the impinging spray were analyzed, and the experimental equations of the radius and the height of the spray were proposed as functions of the above mentioned variables.
Abstract: In a small high-speed DI diesel engine, injected fuel sprays impinge on the wall of the piston cavity. Discussion and analysis of the combustion phenomena in the diesel engine demand the measurement of the characteristics of the impinging spray. In the experiments presented here, diesel fuel oil was injected into a high pressure chamber in which compressed air or CO2 gas at room temperature was charged. From these results, the detailed information concerning the droplets density in the impinging diesel spray was obtained. The effects of ambient density, distance from the wall to the nozzle, and injection pressure on the impinging spray were analyzed. Finally, the experimental equations of the radius and the height of the impinging spray were proposed as functions of the above mentioned variables. (A) For the covering abstract see IRRD 865952.

TL;DR: In this paper, an indirect, non-invasive and continuous measurement of blood pressure in a finger by using a photoelectric plethysmograph having a pressure cuff to be placed around the finger and to be filled with fluid, an associated light source and light detector, an electronic circuit, and an electric control valve having at least one fluid flapper-nozzle system.
Abstract: A device for the indirect, non-invasive and continuous measurement of blood pressure in a finger by using a photo-electric plethysmograph having a pressure cuff to be placed around the finger and to be filled with fluid, an associated light source and light detector, an electronic circuit, and an electric control valve having at least one fluid flapper-nozzle system, the cuff pressure being controlled by the plethysmographic signal in closed-loop operation such that the arterial volume is maintained on a pre-adjusted value and each deviation thereof due to changes in intra-arterial pressure is compensated immediately, whereby the control valve consists of a double fluid flapper-nozzle system in balance connection, whereby a single flapper member is positioned between the oppositely arranged nozzle openings of two nozzle members and alternately opens and closes these nozzle openings, one flapper-nozzle system being used in opposite sense, and one single chamber surrounding both nozzle openings being connected to the pressure cuff.
