Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for interpreting user focus on virtual objects in a mixed reality environment. Using inference, express gestures and heuristic rules, the present system determines which of the virtual objects the user is likely focused on and interacting with. At that point, the present system may emphasize the selected virtual object over other virtual objects, and interact with the selected virtual object in a variety of ways.

Abstract: Before agents can be used extensively a methodology must be established for the development of agent based systems. This methodology must encompass modeling or analysis, design, and implementation of both the technical and organisational aspects of the systems. This paper outlines a methodology for the engineering of agent based systems. The methodology is based upon the IDEF (ICAM Definition) approach for workflow modeling and the use case driven approach to object oriented software engineering. The methodology is illustrated via a case study in the area of discrete parts manufacturing.

Complex issues of a distributed object oriented environment are encapsulated within a software generated framework. A plurality of abstract classes of objects with predefined characteristics is created for utilization within the framework. Also, a plurality of proxy objects are connected to the framework. The framework manipulates the proxy objects to instantiate communication and data transfer between objects of the distributed object oriented environment.
