Abstract: As the speed of vehicles and the density of traffic increase, transport networks are going to need reliable communications system if they are to run efficiently and if present safety standards are to be maintained. Today, attention is being paid mostly to services in which vehicles run along set paths, such as railways, where means of transmitting intelligence are needed for obstacle detection as well as for ordinary communication.

Abstract: An indoor miniature golf layout has a number of obstacles placed between the tee-off point and the hole. The obstacles are retractable so that 18 different obstacle patterns can be selected, thus representing an eighteen hole outdoor installation. The obstacles can be raised and lowered either manually by means of control wires, or mechanically by means of pneumatic cylinders or electro-magnets. The played balls return to a closed container from where a coin operated gate releases the required number when play starts. The obstacles are kept in containers which have lid portions which are flush with the playing surface in the lowered condition.
