TL;DR: The aim of the overall system is to provide a low cost and efficient navigation aid for blind which gives a sense of artificial vision by providing information about the environmental scenario of static and dynamic objects around them.
Abstract: 31 ABSTRACT The paper presents a theoretical model and a system concept to provide a smart electronic aid for blind people. The system is intended to provide overall measures – Artificial vision and object detection ,real-time assistance via global positioning system(GPS).The system consist of proximity sensors, ultrasonic sensors , gps module, stereo cameras and dual feedback systemauditory as well as vibratory circuit. The aim of the overall system is to provide a low cost and efficient navigation aid for blind which gives a sense of artificial vision by providing information about the environmental scenario of static and dynamic objects around them.

01 Dec 1999TL;DR: A reactive navigation system for an autonomous mobile robot in unstructured dynamic environments is presented and the predicted obstacle configuration is employed by the proposed virtual force based navigation method to prevent collision with moving obstacles.
Abstract: A reactive navigation system for an autonomous mobile robot in unstructured dynamic environments is presented. The motion of moving obstacles is estimated for robot motion planning and obstacle avoidance. A multisensor-based obstacle predictor is utilized to obtain obstacle-motion information. Sensory data from a CCD camera and multiple ultrasonic range finders are combined to predict obstacle positions at the next sampling instant. A neural network, which is trained off-line, provides the desired prediction on-line in real time. The predicted obstacle configuration is employed by the proposed virtual force based navigation method to prevent collision with moving obstacles. Simulation results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed navigation system in an environment with multiple mobile robots or moving objects. This system was implemented and tested on an experimental mobile robot at our laboratory. Navigation results in real environment are presented and analyzed.

TL;DR: In this paper, a self-traveling vehicle with contact type tracing sensors is provided to prevent an obstacle sensor from receiving impulse force or friction force at the time of model traveling by providing a regulating means and the obstacle sensor.
Abstract: PURPOSE: To prevent an obstacle sensor from receiving impulse force or friction force at the time of model traveling by providing a regulating means and the obstacle sensor so that a self-traveling vehicle can travel along an object. CONSTITUTION: A mobile truck 8 is provided with contact type tracing sensors 1-A, 1-B, 1-C and 1-D of the regulating means two by two respectively on the left and right side faces of a mobile truck main body 8 in an advancing direction 9. Besides, contact type obstacle sensors 10a-10d are provided on the four side faces of the mobile truck 8. While the model traveling is performed along an object 11 such as walls, the model traveling is provided by respectively controlling a traveling means through a travel control means and steering means through a steering control means while using a processing means based on the signals from the tracing sensors 1-A-1-D. When any obstacle is detected, the signals of the tracing sensors 1-A-1-D and the obstacle detection sensors 10a-10d are inputted to the processing means, and a position azimuth is controlled by respectively controlling the traveling means through the traveling control means and the steering means through the steering control means. 18 Aug 1942TL;DR: In this paper, a radio locator is proposed to detect and observe distant and nearby objects by transmitting radio wave pulses as a result of which the objects are detected and detected by the beacon.
Abstract: This invention relates to improvements in obstacle detection systems. In obstacle detection systems, sometimes known as radio locators, it has been proposed to detect and observe distant and nearby objects by transmitting radio wave pulses as a result of which the objects are detected and...

TL;DR: In this paper, a vehicle driving assistance apparatus includes a brake operation sensing device to sense a driver's brake operation, a steering operation sensor to sense the driver's steering operation, and a forward and a controller.
Abstract: A vehicle driving assistance apparatus includes a brake operation sensing device to sense a driver's brake operation, a steering operation sensing device to sense a driver's steering operation, a forward, and a controller. The controller is configured to determine whether there is a need for avoiding the obstacle, by examining a possibility of contact of the vehicle with the obstacle, and to produce a yaw moment to an obstacle avoiding direction advantageous for avoiding the obstacle, from the time of detection of the driver's brake operation, to the time of detection of the driver's steering operation, by adjusting a wheel brake/drive force distribution among wheels resulting from the driver's brake operation when there is the need for avoiding the obstacle.
