TL;DR: In this paper, a controller enables the integration of a DC-DC converter in an amplitude modulation power control loop in a mobile handset, which includes an input conditioner and an event sensor.
Abstract: A controller enables the integration of a DC-DC converter in an amplitude modulation power control loop in a mobile handset. The controller includes an input conditioner and an event sensor. The input conditioner uses a peak detector to track the output of a regulator and responds to available baseband input signals. The event sensor controls a switch that connects the DC-DC converter to a battery in response to a bypass event. The controller bypasses the DC-DC-converter when a transmitter is not enabled. The DC-DC converter is enabled prior to a transmission burst. A target voltage is determined from a series of detected peak voltages from the output of the regulator. The controller commands the DC-DC converter to transition to the target voltage until the end of a transmission burst.

TL;DR: In this paper, an output feedback controller design method for piecewise discrete-time linear systems based on a piecewise Lyapunov function and a state observer is presented, and the resulting closed-loop system is globally stable and the controller can be obtained by solving a set of linear matrix inequalities.
Abstract: This brief presents an output feedback controller design method for piecewise discrete-time linear systems based on a piecewise Lyapunov function and a state observer. It is shown that the resulting closed-loop system is globally stable and the controller can be obtained by solving a set of linear matrix inequalities that is numerically feasible with commercially available software. In other words, it is shown that the separation principle of the controller and observer design is still maintained when the piecewise Lyapunov function is used. A simulation example is also given to illustrate the advantage of the proposed approach.

TL;DR: In this article, a low cost solar-powered feedback controller for distributed irrigation control of fixed irrigation systems was developed and tested, and the results indicated that the controller was effective in maintaining the SWP in the root zone close to a predetermined management allowed deficit (MAD).

TL;DR: In this article, a two-stage planetary gear set with common sun and common ring gears and two braking mechanisms was used to control the flow of power in an electric vehicle equipped with such a transmission, and the Pontryagin Minimum Principle was applied to design an optimal shifting controller to keep the output speed and the output torque of the driveline constant during the gear shifting operation.

TL;DR: In this paper, a dc power-flow controller for a multiterminal HVDC system, which can be inserted in series on transmission lines to manage the dc power flow, is proposed.
Abstract: This paper proposes a novel dc power-flow controller for a multiterminal HVDC system, which can be inserted in series on transmission lines to manage the dc power flow. Its key features include: 1) simpler circuit topology; 2) fewer components; and 3) the elimination of an external power supply and low-frequency high-voltage-insulation isolated transformer. A three-terminal HVDC system, including the dc power-flow controller, is studied and its operation principle and characteristics are analyzed. A simulation mode is built to test the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed dc power-flow controller with cases of power injection step down, power loss of one terminal, and power-flow reversal. A three-terminal dc system is built in the lab to validate the dc power-flow controller. The results show that the proposed dc power-flow controller can enhance the performance and controllability of a multiterminal HVDC system.
