TL;DR: It is shown that the phase retardation curves around the optic nerve head measured by PS-SD-OCT and SLP have similar values except near the retinal blood vessels.
Abstract: Phase retardation of in vivo human retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) is quantitatively measured by two methods—polarization-sensitive spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (PS-SD-OCT) and scanning laser polarimetry (SLP). An en face cumulative phase retardation map is calculated from the three-dimensional (3-D) phase retardation volume of healthy and glaucomatous eyes measured by PS-SD-OCT. It is shown that the phase retardation curves around the optic nerve head measured by PS-SD-OCT and SLP have similar values except near the retinal blood vessels. PS-SD-OCT can measure the cumulative phase retardation of RNFL as well as SLP, which will allow the evaluation of RNFL for glaucomatous eyes.

TL;DR: In this paper, a novel optical coherence tomography system without any moving parts for depth scanning was proposed and demonstrated using two optical frequency comb generators, as broad-band spectrum generators, instead of moving parts.
Abstract: A novel optical coherence tomography system without any moving parts for depth scanning was proposed and demonstrated. It was accomplished using two optical frequency comb generators, as broad-band spectrum generators, instead of moving parts for depth scanning. A high scanning speed of more than 12.5 km/s and also a high repetition rate of 500 kHz were achieved in a long scan range of 25 mm. The resolution was about 100 µm.

TL;DR: Polarization sensitive optical coherence tomography (PS-OCT) as mentioned in this paper is an imaging technique based on light scattering that performs rapid two-and three-dimensional imaging of transparent and translucent samples with micrometer scale resolution.
Abstract: Polarization sensitive optical coherence tomography (PS-OCT) is an imaging technique based on light scattering. PS-OCT performs rapid two- and three-dimensional imaging of transparent and translucent samples with micrometer scale resolution. PS-OCT provides image contrast based on the polarization state of backscattered light and has been applied in many biomedical fields as well as in non-medical fields. Thereby, the polarimetric approach enabled imaging with enhanced contrast compared to standard OCT and the quantitative assessment of sample polarization properties. In this article, the basic methodological principles, the state of the art of PS-OCT technologies, and important applications of the technique are reviewed in a concise yet comprehensive way.

TL;DR: This comprehensive overview is aimed to summarize different applicable definitions used by different research groups in plaque and stent analysis using OCT and presents readers with a panoramic view to select the best definition of OCT measurement for one's own study purpose.
Abstract: Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is the current state-of-the-art intracoronary imaging modality that allows visualization of detailed morphological characteristics of both atherosclerotic plaque and stent. So far, three expert review documents have been released for standardization of OCT image an
