TL;DR: For example, the authors found that when leadership has changed in the past, where it was dependent on higher authority, and where it is in close contact with superiors, organizational structures are unstable over time, but orderly causal relationships among environmental variables, size, and measures of organizational structure appear.
Abstract: Leadership conditions affect both the stability of and causal relationships among variables describing organizational structure. Where leadership has changed in the past, where it is dependent on higher authority, and where it is in close contact with superiors, organizational structures are unstable over time, but orderly causal relationships among environmental variables, size, and measures of organizational structure appear. Where leadership has been stable, and where it is autonomous and insulated from higher authority, organizational structures are more predictable, but causal relationships vanish.

TL;DR: In this paper, a model describing causal relations among four socialpsychological factors (organizational climate, managerial leadership, peer leadership, group process) in organizational functioning is empirically examined.
Abstract: Jerome L. Franklin A model describing causal relations among four socialpsychological factors-organizational climate, managerial leadership, peer leadership, group process-in organizational functioning is empirically examined. Data from two waves and from pairs of superior-subordinate groups are included to evaluate both the importance of lag time and the influence of conditions and practices in groups at related levels of hierarchy. With one notable exception indicating a lack of direct influence from supervisory behavior to the group process factor, the relations suggested by the theory received supportfrom the data. Specifically, the major links are from organizational climate to managerial leadership, from managerial leadership to peer leadership, and from peer leadership to group process.

TL;DR: The organizational imperative has been analyzed in this paper for its impact on social values, for the organizational imperative transformed them into supportive administrative norms, and the new values pose serious questions about their compatibility with traditional assumptions about the innate moral nature of man.
Abstract: The American value system has undergone a recent and pervasive transformation. The immediate cause has been “the organizational imperative”: the primary values absolutely necessary for modern organization. This essay analyzes the organizational imperative: its a priori propositions, its rules for behavior, and its administrative norms. Particular attention is given to its impact on social values, for the organizational imperative has transformed them into supportive administrative norms. This is of concern because it has made us a significantly different people than we presumed we would be. The new values pose serious questions about their compatibility with traditional assumptions about the innate moral nature of man.

Abstract: This paper presents the results of a study concerned with the need satisfactions of Americans who are assigned to international managerial positions. The results of the study indicate that regional location and prior international work experience influence the job satisfaction of overseas managers. It is suggested that jobs in different parts of the world may be viewed differently because of previous international work experience, career aspiration and control exerted by the parent organization.

Abstract: What is the status of "organizational communication" in colleges of business? This article presents some results of a 1974 informal study to determine if a trend was discernible in colleges of business at the undergraduate level away from traditional writing courses toward a more theoretical organizational communication course. No discernible trend was evident in the number of new courses of an organizational nature being offered; however, there does appear an emerging need among communi cation professors for such a course in the future. This article proposes a "model" organizational communication content format.
