TL;DR: This paper used data obtained from American and French Directors of Purchasing of major industrial firms concerning their perceptions of five major “made in” concepts and found that the respondents perceived the made-in concepts differently in both countries.
Abstract: Cross-cultural studies of the perceptions of countries of origin by industrial users have been few, but they are important because of their managerial implications for multinational firms. This study uses data obtained from American and French Directors of Purchasing of major industrial firms concerning their perceptions of 5 major “made in” concepts. After the data were corrected for response bias, results show both how the respondents perceive the “made in” concepts and the differences between the American and French perceptions.

TL;DR: This article examined how national culture affects corporate dividend policies and found that Conservatism is positively related and Mastery negatively related to dividend payouts for a sample of 27,462 firm-years from 21 countries between 1995 and 2007.
Abstract: This interdisciplinary study examines how national culture affects corporate dividend policies. The dividend puzzle is one of the most studied, yet unresolved, issues in financial economics. Prior theoretical and empirical research has suggested several explanations of the dividend puzzle that are rooted mainly in agency, asymmetric information, “bird in hand”, and pecking order theories. The main intuition behind our analysis is that dividend policy may be determined not only by an objective assessment of the severity of agency and asymmetric information problems within a firm, but also by management's and investors’ subjective perceptions of these problems, which hinge on their national culture. Using Schwartz's national culture dimensions, Conservatism and Mastery, we find that Conservatism is positively related and Mastery negatively related to dividend payouts for a sample of 27,462 firm-years from 21 countries between 1995 and 2007. These effects are robust to controls for a wide variety of other determinants of dividend policy – including investor protection, stock market performance, financial system configuration, tax advantage, economic development, and dividend catering premium – and to alternative culture proxies and sub-period windows. Our findings that national culture affects perceptions of and responses to agency and information asymmetry have important implications for policymakers and multinational enterprises.

TL;DR: It is determined that the pharmaceutical industry has paid special attention to benchmarking strategy, and companies should utilize the intangible assets available through a KMS to attain full participation from the employees to ensure the success of implementing an effective KMS.
Abstract: – The objective of this study is to discuss the critical success factors involved in implementing a knowledge management system (KMS), in order to enhance a firm's competitiveness, while keeping costs to a minimum., – Based on field studies and a literature review, this study outlined 32 variables in the implementation of a KMS. The research targets were on members of the Taiwan Pharmaceutical Marketing and Management Association (TPMMA). Out of the 355 questionnaires sent, 98 valid questionnaires were returned, resulting in a valid return rate of 27.6 percent., – After completing the statistical analysis, seven factors were determined to be critical: a benchmarking strategy and knowledge structure; the organizational culture; information technology; employee involvement and training; the leadership and the commitment of senior management; a learning environment and resource control; and evaluation of professional training and teamwork., – This paper chooses members of TPMMA as research targets; thus, to apply this study to other than pharmaceutical industries requires further research., – Strategy and organizational culture are important in the adoption of a KMS. This study has determined that the pharmaceutical industry has paid special attention to benchmarking strategy. Adopting a KMS can be easy with a core department to maintain proper function of the system. However, companies should utilize the intangible assets available through a KMS to attain full participation from the employees to ensure the success of implementing an effective KMS., – This paper identifies critical factors in adopting a KMS for the pharmaceutical industry. That can offer pragmatic indication for those companies intent on introducing a KMS.
