Abstract: Prior research on the organizational identification-innovative behaviour link has produced contradictory findings. Based on regulatory focus theory, we propose that work promotion focus and work prevention focus are two parallel mechanisms that motivate or demotivate employees to innovate and which of the processes will be activated depends on the level of learning goal orientation. Data were collected through a time-lagged and multisource survey. The final sample included 268 employees, whose innovative behaviour was assessed by their line managers. Hypotheses were tested using hierarchical regression analyses. Results indicated that organizational identification was associated with more innovative behaviour via work promotion focus, but less innovative behaviour via work prevention focus. Meanwhile, employees high on both organizational identification and learning goal orientation were more likely to be work promotion focused and behave more innovatively, whereas those high on organizational identification and low on learning goal orientation were more likely to be work prevention focused and behave less innovatively. Theoretical and practical contributions of this study were discussed.

Abstract: This study expands conceptions of organizational membership by examining individuals whose relationships with their organizations are traditionally characterized as involuntary in nature. Data from inmates and prison employees in four U.S. and Norwegian correctional institutions was examined using structuration theory as an emergent interpretive lens, and five primary ways in which involuntary membership is constructed in communication are identified: physical environment, mobility, relationships, engagement, and body. These facets are presented as the foundation of a continuum-based theoretical perspective on (in)voluntary membership and are discussed for their applicability to future research and theorizing across organizational communication studies.

Abstract: Cyber-loafing is a growing organizational vice with resource and productivity consequences. Given its observed rise in public service in Nigeria; this study examined the organizational identification and proactive work behaviour as predictors of cyber-loafing among public sector employees in Anambra State. The study participants were 403 employees drawn from Anambra State civil service, Nigeria. The participants were 131 males and 272 females with a mean age of 39 years and standard deviation of 4.20. Cluster sampling was used to select participants Ministries whereas accidental sampling was utilized to select the participants from their respective ministries. Organizational identification scale, Proactive work behavior scale and Cyber-loafing questionnaire were instruments of data collection. Anchored on social exchange theory, the study utilized correlation design and hierarchical regression analysis as design and statistical tool for data analysis. The result indicated that positive and significant correlation was recorded between Original Research Article Chukwuemeka et al.; AJARR, 8(2): 10-19, 2020; Article no.AJARR.53974 11 organizational identification and proactive work behaviour at r(1, 403) = .43*, p < .05; while negative and significant correlation was recorded between organizational identification and cyberloafing at r(1, 403) = -.37*, p < .05. Also, negative and significant correlation was recorded between proactive work behaviour and cyber-loafing at r(1, 403) = -.56*, p < .05. Hierarchical regression analysis confirmed that both organizational identification and proactive work behaviour negatively and significantly predicted cyber-loafing at α = -.39*, p < .05 (n = 403) and α = -.48*, p < .05 (n = 403) respectively among civil servants in Anambra State. Organizations are adviced to improve on their social exchange among employees to engender for greater organizational identification and pro-activity to reduce cyber-loafing behaviours.
