TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that Swinbank's empirical formula for the long-wave radiation from clear skies can be derived from existing knowledge of atmospheric emission by taking account of the moderately strong correlation at most places between screen temperature and the amount of water vapour overhead.

TL;DR: An adjustable holder for replaceable targets and which is adapted to be set into the ground or alternately, hung from an overhead support is described in this paper, where a secondary leg is spaced from the main leg to prevent inadvertent swinging of the target and a pair of vertically spaced rods are provided and have clamp means which accommodate targets of various widths.
Abstract: An adjustable holder for replaceable targets and which is adapted to be set into the ground or alternately, hung from an overhead support. The holder has an extension for its main leg and by means of which targets of varying heights can be accommodated. A secondary leg is spaced from the main leg so as to prevent inadvertent swinging of the target and a pair of vertically spaced rods are provided and have clamp means which accommodate targets of various widths.

Abstract: : In the paper the authors have devised methods for allocating overhead charges on the basis of mathematical programming models of the firm's production and sales possibilities. The basic scheme was to charge products on the basis of their utilization of the scarce resources of the firm. The prices for use of these resources were obtained from the dual variables associated with the constraints of profit-maximizing programming models. Special attention was given to traceable and avoidable overhead and overhead subsidies that arise because of sales and production interdependencies or managerial constraints. The objective, in all of these procedures, has been to devise a method for allocating overhead that does not distort the relative profitability of products so that managers would make identical product related decisions both before and after the overhead allocation. As such, the method captures a principal benefit of direct costing analysis while significantly extending this benefit to recognize scarce resource utilization and interaction with other products in reporting profitability. At the same time, the method avoids a difficulty of direct costing systems in that it is a full costing system with all overhead being allocated to products. Also the availability of the original programming model (before any overhead allocations) facilitates marginal analysis for short term product related decisions and expansion of scarce resources. TL;DR: In this paper, a patient positioning apparatus, particularly for use with therapy wherein an associated couch is suspended from above rather than forming an integral part of therapy equipment, is disclosed, and the ability to move the patient in rectilinear coordinates and also in relationship to a datum which may be the access of emission of an X-ray device or a source line of a piece of radio therapy equipment.
Abstract: There is disclosed a patient positioning apparatus, particularly for use with therapy wherein an associated couch is suspended from above rather than forming an integral part of therapy equipment. Also provided is a isocentric facility and the ability to move the patient in rectilinear coordinates and also in r relationship to a datum which may be the access of emission of an X-ray device or a source line of a piece of radio therapy equipment.

TL;DR: This paper presents a meta-modelling framework that automates the very labor-intensive and therefore time-heavy and therefore expensive process of manually managing the supervisory functions of a high performance computing system.
Abstract: One of the most significant problems in designing high performance computing systems is the complexity of the associated supervisory software. This is especially true in multi-user environments: the software overhead involved in user communications and resource allocation normally absorbs a great percentage of the system's computing power.

TL;DR: A display board incorporating an electronic digital calculator as discussed by the authors is designed to display certain data concerning projects undertaken and the length of time various staff members are assigned thereto; and the calculator responds to the data displayed by computing a numerical project cost quantity.
Abstract: A display board incorporating an electronic digital calculator. The board is designed to display certain data concerning projects undertaken and the length of time various staff members are assigned thereto; and the calculator responds to the data displayed by computing a numerical project cost quantity. In addition to the displayed data, the calculator takes into account additional data relating to the various overhead factors pertaining to respective projects, and the various salary rates paid to staff members assigned to these projects. Selector switches permit particular projects and time periods to be included in or excluded from the cost calculation.

TL;DR: In this paper, a load handling vehicle is equipped with a steering and traction wheel and an overhead guide assembly coacting with fixed overhead linear tracks, which rotate together so as to guide the vehicle and support it in its movement in different paths.
Abstract: A load handling vehicle is equipped with a steering and traction wheel and an overhead guide assembly coacting with fixed overhead linear tracks. The steering and traction wheel and the guide assembly rotate together so as to guide the vehicle and support it in its movement in different paths. The overhead tracks are connected by a circular track to permit transfer of the guide assembly from one linear track to another.
