TL;DR: In this paper, a simple tool consisting of two arms mounted at right angles to the handle and 180 degrees apart is described for cleaning leaves and other debris from common house gutters, consisting of a pole handle, to each end of which is attached a small paddle.
Abstract: A device is described for cleaning leaves and other debris from common house gutters, consisting of a pole handle, to each end of which is attached a simple tool consisting of two arms mounted at right angles to the handle and 180 degrees apart. On the end of each arm is a paddle shaped roughly like the bottom of the gutter. About six inches from the pole, one of the arms is offset some three inches toward the operator. The paddle attached to this arm is smaller in height than that attached to the other. In operation, the paddle on the straight arm pulls the leaves down the gutter until it reaches a cross-strut. The operator then rotates the handle 180 degrees permitting the offset arm and the smaller paddle to pull the leaves under the cross-strut. The operator then rotates the handle back to its original position so that it can insert the paddle of the straight arm into the gutter on the near side of the cross-strut but behind the pile of leaves, and repeats the procedure until all the debris has been brought to the operator and lifted from the gutter.

TL;DR: In this paper, a rotatable paddle wheel is used for fan folding and stacking a continuous web of business forms and operates as the last stage of a processing machine. But it does not have the ability to handle the continuous web.
Abstract: This device is for use for fan-folding and stacking a continuous web of business forms and operates as the last stage of such processing machine. The device includes a pair of rotatable paddle wheels disposed on each side of the processing machine frame and having an axis of rotation perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the frame. Each paddle wheel includes a hub rotatable in a plane parallel to the axis of the frame and a plurality of radially extending lengthwise adjustable arms pivotally attached to the hub for transverse movement out of and into the plane of rotation of the hub for selective engagement with the continuous web. The transverse movement of the arms is controlled by a circular cam fixedly attached to the frame and engageable by cam followers attached to said arms.

TL;DR: In this paper, an apparatus, carried by a vehicle, for excavating packed snow or ice from a roadway in a swath equivalent to the width of the apparatus, is described.
Abstract: An apparatus, carried by a vehicle, for excavating packed snow or ice from a roadway in a swath equivalent to the width of the apparatus. A strong and unitary frame carries a transmission actuated by a vehicle PTO to power an axle shaft. The frame houses a hopper-like collector assembly with a chamber bisected by a paddle assembly on the axle shaft. The collector and paddle assemblies cooperate to slowly move snow or ice into a vertically oriented chute. Thereafter, the paddle assembly and vertical chute cooperate to rapidly propel snow or ice through a directional discharge chute. The apparatus may have one or more combinations of operative components to determine width of the snow or ice removal swath.

TL;DR: In this article, a machine for the treatment of salted ham in the prepn. of boiled ham and similar meat products is described, which is a horizontal cylinder with a cooling system down to zero deg.C along the walls or inside the paddle mixer.
Abstract: Machine for the treatment of salted meat in the prepn. of boiled ham and similar meat products is a horizontal cylinder with a cooling system down to zero deg. C along the walls or inside the paddle mixer. The mechanical treatment of the meat is intensified by continuous operation, by higher speeds and/or by greater paddle surfaces. This shortens the time for the even distribution of the injected brine prior to boiling from 3-4 days to 30-120 mins. The finished boiled ham can be cut into very thin slices without crumbling.

TL;DR: Two paddle striking surfaces or panels are spaced an interval sufficient to receive a player's hand between the panels as mentioned in this paper, and the panels which define striking surfaces are similar in configuration one to another.
Abstract: Two paddle striking surfaces or panels are spaced an interval sufficient to receive a player's hand between the panels. The panels which define striking surfaces are similar in configuration one to another. Separable central posts secure the paddle panels in spaced relationship and afford a grip whereby the paddle striking surfaces may be grasped and manipulated by a player's hand. The surfaces mask the greater part, or all, of the palm and back of the hand. The striking panels may be integrally formed or may be selectively separable elements. preferably the attitude of the striking panels with respect to one another is such that they are substantially parallel when the paddle is in use on the player's hand. Various straps may be used on the paddles to afford a secondary link between the player's hand and the striking panels, such that the movement of the hand results in immediate like movement of the two panels without changing the panel relationship one to another, when used together.

TL;DR: In this paper, a horizontal paddle arm is used to smooth the top of a filter cake, thus preventing the appearance of cracks, and when rotating in reverse direction and simultaneously being lowered into the cake, the paddles act as scoops to remove the cake at the completion of the filtering operation.
Abstract: A filter assembly comprising a vessel with a filter element across the bottom. The assembly includes a horizontal paddle arm, which may be displaced vertically, mounted on a shaft and driven by a motor. The paddle arm fulfills two functions. Firstly, when rotating in one direction, the paddles smooth the top of the filter cake, thus preventing the appearance of cracks.Secondly, when rotating in the reverse direction and simultaneously being lowered into the cake, the paddles act as scoops to remove the cake at the completion of the filtering operation. The continuous smoothing of the cake with the resultant elimination of cracks facilitates the maintenance of the pressure difference across the cake, which is necessary for efficient filtration. The assembly provides an efficient mechanical handling device for the removal of the cake when filtration is complete.

TL;DR: In this paper, a support for a paddle mixer with a chain drive sprocket is presented, where the inner race of a ball bearing is attached to the underside of a stationary cover.
Abstract: A cooker for plastic materials e.g. casting asphalt has a domed cover which supports a vertical shaft for a paddle mixer. The shaft has on its top end a horizontal flange with a chain drive sprocket fixed to its periphery. The periphery also carries the outer race of a ball bearing, the inner race is attached to the underside of a stationary cover. This results in a simple and functionally reliable support for the paddle mixer shaft. The ingress of cooked asphalt into the bearing and drive has been made impossible.

TL;DR: A paddle mixer for straining vats in breweries with a vertical shaft, driven by a worm gear motor, has a lifting mechanism with a separate drive for the height adjustment of the paddle depending on the filling operation and the process.
Abstract: A paddle mixer for straining vats in breweries with a vertical shaft, driven by a worm gear motor, has a lifting mechanism with a separate drive for the height adjustment of the paddle depending on the filling operation and the process. The gear motor complete with drive shaft and paddle is supported by a frame in vertical guide rods. A leadscrew with a separate motor drive is used to move the frame up or down. This eliminates the lubrication difficulties of the conventional shaft, coupled by keys and keyways to the hollow drive shaft. The danger of a lubricant entering the vat has been overcome.
