TL;DR: In this paper, a rotary paddle is used to retract a sheet of paper toward the direction of guides 3 and 4, while a paddle 62, retracting the sheet toward the directions of the guide 4, enable the sheet 5 to be surely positioned and aligned by the guides 3.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable a sheet, even generating a curl or the like, also to be well aligned, by providing a rotary paddle, which gives the sheet retractive force in the crossing direction of two planes crossing at a right angle, and an auxiliary rotary paddle, which transfers the sheet to the direction of one of the planes with retractive force weaker than that of the former paddle. CONSTITUTION:A paddle 61, retracting a sheet of paper toward the direction of guides 3 and 4, while a paddle 62, retracting the sheet toward the direction of the guide 4, enable the sheet 5 to be surely positioned and aligned by the guides 3 and 4. The retaining action of a curl by pressing force of the paddle 62 is provided particularly for the sheet even if it is curled, positioning a side of the sheet 5 surely to the guide 4. While another side of the sheet 5 in its lateral direction is positioned to the guide 3 by the action of the paddle 61. Further an angle formed by the retractive direction of the paddle and the advancing direction of the sheet is preferable such that the paddle 61 is tilted at 45 deg. while the paddle 62 is placed at 0 deg. with respect to the advancing direction of the sheet, here retractive force in the lateral direction is too strong if the paddles are both titled at 45 deg. while too weak if the paddle 61 is titled at 30 deg. and the paddle 62 is placed at 0 deg..

TL;DR: In this paper, a double-bladed kayak paddle is described, which includes first and second blade sections having a paddle blade carried on one end thereof, and jointed ends (16, 20) carried on opposing ends thereof.
Abstract: A double-bladed kayak paddle (A, B) is disclosed which includes first and second blade sections (10, 12) having a paddle blade (14, 18) carried on one end thereof, and jointed ends (16, 20) carried on opposing ends thereof. The jointed ends are fitted together to form a joint (C) which effectively prevents torque forces from being placed on a latch mechanism (D). The latch mechanism includes a latch button (24) carried within a hollow sleeve (22) which interfits within hollow portions of the first and second blade sections (10, 12). Latch openings (32, 34 and 60, 62) are circumferentially spaced around the first section (10) to provide a number of operational positions for different operational blade configurations. Various right and left hand control configurations are provided for the paddle, as well as feathered and nonfeathered configurations. Angular projections (36, 38) formed in the jointed ends (16, 20) of the first and second sections intermesh with each other to positively prevent rotation between the first and second sections and effectively prevent any torque forces from being imparted through the latch mechanism (D). The angular projections are spaced at 90 degree increments to correspond to the operational locking positions of the latch openings (32, 34 and 60, 62). In this manner, torque stresses are effectively removed from the latch mechanism regardless of the position in which the first and second sections are interlocked.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method of increasing the pressure over the entire part of the atmosphere and exerting pressure to the paddle itself or superposing the 2nd paddle on the unsolidified thin strip emitted from the paddle and pressing the same.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To manufacture a titled thin strip having a good surface of specific thickness and width or above by subjecting the unsolidified free surface side, on a cooling bare body, of the thin alloy strip drawn out of a paddle to pressurization by direct injection of gas, etc. thereby intensifying forced cooling and heat contact and increasing the solidifying rate. CONSTITUTION:A thin alloy strip drawn out of a paddle at a high speed is quickly cooled as it travels at an equal speed on a cooling bare body. The unsolidified free surface thereof is pressurized by the cooling gas injected directly thereto and the heat contact with the bare body is increased to increase the solidifying rate. The thickness of the thin strip consisting of the Fe amorphous alloy is made to >=45mum thinkness, >=20mm. width and <=0.5mum free surface Ra with respect to 0.8 cut-off value in surface roughness by such increase in the solidifying rate. The roll surface is also made to <=0.5mum Ra. The increase in the cooling method is executed by a method of increasing the pressure over the entire part of the atmosphere and exerting pressure to the paddle itself or superposing the 2nd paddle on the unsolidified thin strip emitted from the paddle and pressing the same.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method to eliminate temperature difference between the positions of semiconductor wafers at the time of taking in and out of the semiconductor Wafers to and from a heating furnace by a method wherein grooves by which semiconductors are put on a heating paddle directly are provided and a slit is provided so as to separate the grooves.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To eliminate temperature difference between the positions of semiconductor wafers at the time of taking in and out of the semiconductor wafers to and from a heating furnace by a method wherein grooves by which semiconductor wafers are put on a heating paddle directly are provided and a slit is provided so as to separate the grooves. CONSTITUTION:A paddle 11 itself is formed so as to have circular arc shape and to the bottom of the paddle 11 grooves 6 in which semiconductor wafers 7 are put are provided perpendicular to the longitudinal direction and so as to have a circular arc shape of the bottom. A slit 12 is provided to the bottom along the longitudinal direction so as to separate these grooves 6 into two portions. A boat is not necessary for the paddle 11 composed like this and the heat capacity is reduced because the slit 12 is provided. Because the bottom of the grooves 6 has circular arc shape, heat conduction from the paddle 11 to the semiconductor wafers 7 is sufficient and due to the radiation from the furnace the temperature rise of the semiconductor wafer 7 at the bottom II is about the same as that at the top I and the temperature difference between the semiconductor wafers 7 is eliminated. While the temperature is descended, the temperature difference between the positions of the semiconductor wafers 7 is small.

TL;DR: In this paper, the leading end of a paper is placed against a blade of a paddle on resting so that the positioning of the paper upon manual feed is simplified to eliminate erroneous feed and resetting.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To efficiently carry out manual insertion of papers, by making a leading end of a paper abut against a blade of a paddle on resting so that the positioning of the paper upon manual feed is simplified to eliminate erroneous feed and resetting. CONSTITUTION:The baldes of a paddle 2 rest vertically to a paper feeding bed 1 when the pawl 7a of a spring clutch 7 and an engaging pawl 9a of an intermittent lever 9 are engaged together. In this condition, when a manually inserted paper 5 is fed along the paper feeding bed 1, the leading end of the paper 5 abuts against one of blades of the paddle 2, and therefore, the paper 5 is positioned. When the paper 5 is inserted to a predetermined position, a detector detects this insertion and energizes a solenoid 12 to rotate the intermittent lever 9 overcoming the force of a spring 11, and therefore, the engagement between the pawls 7a, 9a is released. Then, the spring clutch 7 is coupled to a rotary shaft 3, and therefore, the paddle 2 is rotated when the rotary shaft 3 is rotated by driving a chain 8, thereby the paper 5 is fed in by another blade.

TL;DR: In this paper, a foot pedal is used to activate and deactivate a power source that affects the rotation of the paddles and positions the non-rotating paddles in noninterfering relationship with the projecting portion of the hammer heads so that the piano can be played conventionally when desired.
Abstract: Improvements in player piano devices. Repetitive striking of a piano wire by a hammer head associated with a depressed piano key is accomplished by means of a rotating paddle that strikes a projecting portion of the hammer head attendant each revolution of the paddle. A foot pedal means activates and de-activates a power source that effects rotation of the paddles, there being as many paddles as there are hammer heads. The means for de-activating the power source also serves to stop the rotation of the paddles and positions the non-rotating paddles in non-interfering relationship with the projecting portion of the hammer heads so that the piano can be played conventionally when desired.
