TL;DR: A dual mechanical movement scanning system for ion implantation includes a radial scan arm which is mounted at a fixed pivot point external to the system vacuum chamber and penetrates the chamber and supports the wafer paddle or wheel within the chamber as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A dual mechanical movement scanning system for ion implantation includes a radial scan arm which is mounted at a fixed pivot point external to the system vacuum chamber and penetrates the chamber and supports the wafer paddle or wheel within the chamber. The fast-scan component is provided by rotation of the paddle on the support arm; the slow-scan component is provided by pivotal movement of the scan arm itself. The drive system which reciprocally pivots the radial scan arm is configured geometrically so that controlled movement of one arm of the drive system is translated as l/r velocity of the rotational axis relative to the beam path. The wafer paddle can be constructed to provide a variable implant angle and to use a component of centrifugal force to hold the wafers in place without clamps or other mechanical means.

TL;DR: In this article, the pouches are longitudinally compressed for packing in a conventional packing case by a pair of counter-rotating paddle assemblies, each paddle assembly has four paddles arranged in staggered relationship around an associated shaft.
Abstract: Elongated rectangular pouches are longitudinally compressed for packing in a conventional packing case by a pair of counter-rotating paddle assemblies. Each paddle assembly has four paddles arranged in staggered relationship around an associated shaft, the shaft being located outside of and slightly below the path of movement of the pouches as the pouches move in side-by-side relationship between two upright paddles. Two horizontally arranged adjacent paddles receive the pouches at a load station, and rotation of the paddle assemblies drops the pouches between the paddle assemblies as these two paddles move into depending vertical positions where they are more closely spaced relative to one another than the upright paddles in order to compress the pouches as the pouches drop into the case.

TL;DR: A positive stirring consistometer cup as discussed by the authors includes a pair of wall blade members having radially inwardly extending blades which cooperate with a paddle to uniformly apply shear throughout a substance to be tested.
Abstract: A positive stirring consistometer cup includes a pair of wall blade members having radially inwardly extending blades which cooperate with radially outwardly extending blades of a paddle to uniformly apply shear throughout a substance to be tested. A split sleeve assembly eliminates an outer dead space, and an enlarged spacer member mounted on the shaft of the paddle eliminates an inner dead space, thereby enhancing the uniformity of the shear throughout the substance. A centralizing assembly centers the stationary paddle while causing a minimum of friction and wear to occur on the shaft of the paddle. In a method of using the positive stirring consistometer cup, the blades of the wall blade members and of the paddle stop in substantially aligned, coplanar relationship to facilitate cleaning of the elements after a test is concluded.

Abstract: A method is presented which utilizes a personal computer to measure time-intensity (T-I) sensory responses. The judge uses a game paddle which moves an “X” along a fixed scale appearing on the monitor screen to indicate the attribute intensity at each instant in time. A clicker device on the game paddle can be used to record the occurrence of events such as initial mouth entry and time of swallowing. Data acquisition is continuous with the data stored on discs. This technique has advantages over strip chart recorder methods. Disc storage allows rapid and efficient data analysis. Judges can perform the evaluations virtually unsupervised with only minimal training.

TL;DR: This method offered considerable advantages and hence appears to be a suitable alternative to the existing compendial methods which have limitations for evaluation of dosage forms which tend to float on the dissolution medium.
Abstract: Four dissolution methods, the rotating basket, the rotating paddle, the rotating basket with paddle and the stationary basket-rotating paddle, were evaluated using capsules and non-disintegrating pellets of salicylic acid. The agitation intensity produced by the rotating basket method was very low and differed significantly throughout the vessel. However, it did not differ significantly at different positions in the stationary basket-rotating paddle method. This method offered considerable advantages and hence appears to be a suitable alternative to the existing compendial methods which have limitations for evaluation of dosage forms which tend to float on the dissolution medium.

TL;DR: In this paper, the connection clutch of the paddle roll of a developing device is disengaged at the time of feeding a mistaken paper, to prevent waste of a toner and to enable refeeding of a copying paper repeatedly.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent waste of a toner and to enable refeed of a copying paper repeatedly in case of feeding a mistaken paper by disengaging the connection clutch of the paddle roll of a developing device at the time of feeding a mistaken paper. CONSTITUTION:Sprocked wheels 22, 23 are installed on developing rolls 7b, 7c and a paddle roll 7a, and a chain 26 engaged with these wheels 22, 23 transmits a driving force to the roll 7a through a joint 24 to rotate 7b, 7c, 7a in synchronism. So a toner sufficient for development is fed to the rolls 7b, 7c when these rolls are rotated. An electromagnetic clutch 25 is installed between the wheel 23 and the roll 7a. When paper feed is normal, the driving force to be transmitted to the wheel 23 is given to the roll 7a without being changed, but when a wrong paper is fed, the signal is turned off. Therefore, although the rolls 7b, 7c are rotating, the wheel 23 rotates idly, the roll 7a stops, and the toner is not fed to the rolls 7b, 7c.
