TL;DR: In this article, a one-component He-Ne fiber optics laser Doppler anemometer and a conditional sampling computer data acquisition provided unique three-dimensional fluid velocity measurements in most regions of the fluid inside the vessel.
Abstract: This research was motivated by the lack of experimental data concerning the complex flow fields produced by the USP Paddle Method Dissolution Test Apparatus, which influence the reproducibility and sensitivity of the resulting dissolution data.A one-component He-Ne fiber optics laser Doppler anemometer and a conditional sampling computer data acquisition provided unique three-dimensional fluid velocity measurements in most regions of the fluid inside the vessel. Tangential velocities which are predominant in magnitude decrease as a function of distance from the paddle to the liquid surface. Low magnitude circulation patterns in the axial direction exist with little Interaction between the fluid above and below the paddle. The radial velocity component also exhibits a low magnitude. In the vicinity of the paddle, a periodic fluid motion produced by the wake formed behind the paddle exists. Close to the bottom of the vessel, tangential fluid velocities were approximately equal to solid body rotation...

TL;DR: In this paper, a paddle is coupled to an axle and the paddle is used to rotate in response to the rotation of the axle to produce resistance to the movement of the wheel.
Abstract: Underwater exercise apparatus includes at least one paddle, which is coupled to an axle causing the paddle to rotate in response to rotation of the axle. When under water, the paddle produces resistance to the rotation of the axle. In a preferred embodiment, the paddle may be made part of a treadmill for underwater use for varying the resistance to movement of the treadmill belt. In a treadmill embodying the invention, the axle of one of the rollers supporting the belt, which roller is tightly coupled to the belt, extends beyond the side edge of the belt. Directly connected to the extending end of the axle, for rotation therewith, is a paddle. In use, movement of the belt causes rotation of the paddle through the water. The water resists the movement of the paddle which, in turn, resists movement of the belt. The amount of resistance to belt movement is a function of the speed of movement of the belt and the size of the paddle which is designed to be readily changed as desired. The paddle may include means for varying the pitch of the paddle(s). The paddle may also be used in combination with numerous other types of underwater exercise apparatus such as, for example, a bicycle type apparatus.

TL;DR: In this article, an improved die-mounting paddle for mechanical stress reduction in plastic integrated circuit packages is presented, which is incorporated in a leadframe, comprises multiple, coplanar floating sub-paddles, each of which is attached to a support beam by a flexible coil.
Abstract: An improved die-mounting paddle for mechanical stress reduction in plastic integrated circuit packages. The paddle, which is incorporated in a leadframe, comprises multiple, coplanar floating sub-paddles, each of which is attached to a support beam by a flexible coil, thus allowing a large die to remain firmly attached to each of the pads, in spite of differences in the coefficients of expansion between the leadframe paddle metal and the die that might well result in bonding wire breakage or die breakage if a conventional single large paddle were utilized.

The coil (170) is mounted on the first paddle surface, and the accelerometer includes a stator (42, 162) for mounting the support and for forming a magnetic circuit with the coil. The improvement comprises positioning the flexures such that a plane containing the hinge axis and the center of mass (180) of the proof mass is parallel to one of the paddle surfaces, and is closer to one paddle surface than to the other paddle surface. In a preferred arrangement, the plane containing the hinge axis and the center of mass is approximately coplanar with one of the paddle surfaces and with the flexures.

Abstract: A multi-store launcher has each store in a stacked sequence releasably heldy a swinging paddle assembly against the ejection force of negator springs. Each paddle assembly carries a burn resistor that is wired to maintain the paddles in a locked position. A pneumatic pulse from the transporting vehicle causes electronic circuitry to make the resistor fail, freeing the paddles to open away from the store and thereby allowing it to be ejected by the negator springs.

TL;DR: In this paper, the utility model of an adjustable agitator for a small mouth reactor is described, which can be used for reaction of two materials whose specific weights are greatly different.
Abstract: The utility model discloses an adjustable agitator used for a small mouth reactor. For the existing agitator, the size of the agitating blade is limited by the diameter of the mouth of the reactor; though the existing agitator is provided with a movable paddle, the length of the paddle is fixed so that the agitating area can not be adjusted and the material can easily be deposited at the bottom. The utility model discloses an adjustable agitator comprising an agitating shaft (1), a slider (2), an adjustable rhombic agitating paddle blade (3), and a rotary paddle blade (4). The utility model has the advantages of simple structure, freely going in and out the small mouth, large adjusting range of the agitating area, and good agitating effect. The utility model can not easily form dead angle and the utility model is especially suitable for stick the materials. The utility model can be used for reaction of two materials whose specific weights are greatly different. If the utility model is used for the small mouth reactor with accessories of an air guiding pipe, a sampling pipe, a thermometer, etc., user can find that the utility model can become more practical and convenient.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To reduce the noise caused by knocking the support surface of a paddle by arranging a pin in the blade of a paddle wheel and changing the contact angle of a sheet support surface with a blade by the contact of the deflector arranged on the front surface of the paddle wheel with the pin. CONSTITUTION: A deflector fork 30 is arranged on the front surface of a paddle wheel 20 having blades 21 supported by a hub installed on a support shaft 15. In this fork 30, straight surfaces 31, 32 with a different slope and a curved surface 34 are formed continuously. A projection 22 is formed on each blade 21 and a delrin pin 23 is projected. When the paddle wheel 20 is rotated in an arc 17 in an arrow mark 16 direction, the pin 23 is brought into contact with the fork 30 and the blade 21 is bent before contacting with the surface 41 of a tray 40. When the tip of the blade 21 is brought into contact with the tray surface 41, the pin 23 is separated from the fork 30 end and the blade 21 is operated normally. Therefore, the blade 21 is come into contact with the tray surface 41 by the angle by which a collision sound become small.

TL;DR: In this paper, a movable means between a paddle means capable of getting a contact with a lens in an unfolded state and a long tube receiving thereinto a paddle's flexible element in a folded state was proposed.
Abstract: PURPOSE: To reduce significantly a possibility of damaging a lens during its inserting work into an eye, by providing a movable means between a paddle means capable of getting a contact with a lens in an unfolded state and a long tube receiving thereinto a paddle's flexible element in a folded state. CONSTITUTION: A plug 36 formed into a unit with a slider 20 can move toward an axial direction in an inside space 28. The hand-side end 39 of a long element 40 is fixed in a penetrated hole 38 extended toward the axial direction, whose tip is fixed to a flexible paddle 12. When the paddle 12 is folded and accommodated into the inside space 24 of a tube 14 and when moving a slider 20 toward the tip direction of a tip element 30 in a slot 18, the paddle 12 moves toward a tip opening 23. Then, moving the plug 36 toward the tip direction up to getting a contact with the tip element 30 results in a state of having the paddle 12 completely get out of the inside space 24 of the tube 14.
