TL;DR: A compression-paddle mixer has a compression paddle (1) that includes paddle blades (2) juxtaposed colinearly to a paddle rod (3), and the paddle blades include one or more sets of two paddle blades having channel-funneled orientation on paddle spokes (4) that are extended radially from the paddle rod.
Abstract: A compression-paddle mixer has a compression paddle (1) that includes paddle blades (3) juxtaposed colinearly to a paddle rod (5). The paddle blades include one or more sets (2) of two paddle blades having channel-funneled orientation on paddle spokes (4) that are extended radially from the paddle rod. The channel-funneled orientation includes channel-funnel inlets (9) having inlet areas between leading-edges of sets of the paddle blades that are larger than inlet areas of channel-funnel outlets (11) between trailing-edges of the sets of the paddle blades in a direction of rotation of the paddle blades transmitted by rotation of the paddle rod. The compression paddle can be sized, shaped and structured for use with select sizes, shapes and structures of mix containers for select mixing applications.

TL;DR: In this paper, a flat disk or plate is magnetized vertically with respect to the plane of the disc or plate, which is made of samarium-cobalt or neodymium-boron.
Abstract: A mixing assembly consists of a base (1) within which an assembly generates a rotating magnetic field which extends to within the contents of a non-magnetic vessel (6) resting upon the base. A magnetic mixer paddle (8) within the vessel (6) is rotated by the magnetic field below. The novelty is that the magnetic mixer paddle (8) incorporates a flat disc or plate (8; 16,17) which is magnetised vertically with respect to the plane of the disc or plate. The disc or plate is made of samarium-cobalt or neodymium-boron.

TL;DR: In this article, a propulsion system based on physically moving static magnetic fields produced by superconducting coils is proposed, with the use of a prime mover such as a gas turbine or a diesel engine.
Abstract: High‐speed ground vehicles magnetically suspended above a continuous aluminum guideway by superconducting coils can have a clearance of 0.1–0.3 m. To take full advantage of the large clearance, a propulsion system with a comparable clearance is needed. Two such systems based upon physically moving static magnetic fields produced by superconducting coils are proposed. With the use of a prime mover such as a gas turbine or a diesel engine, these systems avoid power collection problems and should result in a lower‐weight propulsion unit. A numerical analysis of each has been made to determine the thrust, the lift force, and the efficiency as a function of various parameters. The mechanical efficiency of the paddle wheel appears to have a maximum of ∼60% at 483 km/h (300 mph), while that of the superconducting screw is (1‐slip) for an infinitely long machine. End effects will degrade the efficiency somewhat for a screw of finite length.

TL;DR: In this paper, a cutting device that cuts an edge portion of a sheet bundle having plural sheets stacked, includes: a cutting blade; a paddle provided on a side of the cutting blade, which removes chips attached to the cutting blades by rubbing a side surface of the Cutting Blade; a controller which controls drive of the paddle.
Abstract: A cutting device that cuts an edge portion of a sheet bundle having plural sheets stacked, includes: a cutting blade; a paddle provided on a side of the cutting blade, which removes chips attached to the cutting blade by rubbing a side surface of the cutting blade; a controller which controls drive of the paddle. The controller includes a judging section which compares a length of the chips in a direction perpendicular to an edge side of the sheet bundle to be cut by the cutting blade with a predetermined length that has been preset. When the length of the chips is shorter than the predetermined length, the controller makes the paddle to rotate in a predetermined direction, and when the length of the chips is longer than the predetermined length, the controller makes the paddle to rotate in a reverse direction.

TL;DR: In this paper, a paddle urging system for use in a stacking bin having a constant force spring to provide an urging force to a paddle for supporting a stack of mailpieces was presented.
Abstract: A paddle urging system for use in a stacking bin having a constant force spring to provide an urging force to a paddle for supporting a stack of mailpieces. As mailpieces are accumulated into the stack, they push the stack against the paddle. A brake/clutch system is used to provide an additional drag to the paddle to resist against this movement of the paddle. The brake/clutch system is adjustable so that heavy mailpieces are supported more effectively, whereas lightweight mailpieces encounter less resistant force when they are accumulated into the stack.
