TL;DR: In this article, a tumbler is mounted for rotation with a curved screen fixedly mounted within the tumbling container, and a multiple vane paddle is mounted to a shaft that is rotatably mounted to the tumb container.
Abstract: A tumbling container is mounted for rotation with a curved screen fixedly mounted within the tumbling container. A multiple vane paddle is mounted to a shaft that is rotatably mounted to the tumbling container. The paddle vanes are formed with angular edges. As the tumbler rotates and the paddle rotates, powder is repeatedly dropped onto the screen to be sifted with the aid of the paddle. Rotating the tumbler further drops unsifted portions of the powder from the screen to mix with additional powder in the tumbler body. Thus, sifting and blending of powders is accomplished in one single operation. The invention utilizes an apparatus having a multiple section screen and a multiple section paddle to enable assembly through the openings in the tumbling container. The screen of a second embodiment has a cowl adjacent to each screen opening to optimize powder lump disintegration.

TL;DR: A snow thrower auger as discussed by the authors has a cylindrical base portion and having auger flights extending radially outwardly from the base portion, and a paddle is replaceably secured to the auger, and it functions with the flights to throw the snow away from the augers.
Abstract: A snow thrower auger having a cylindrical base portion and having auger flights extending radially outwardly from the base portion. A paddle is replaceably secured to the auger, and it functions with the flights to throw the snow away from the auger. The paddle is a piece separate from the remainder of the auger and can be replaced if the paddle is damaged.

TL;DR: Thrust forces calculated by this model demonstrate the idea that by relocating the paddle shaft eccentrically from its wheel center, the rotating paddles will generate vectored thrust force for swimming.
Abstract: To enhance the mobility of amphibious robots for multi-terrains tasks, we have proposed an eccentric paddle locomotion mechanism (ePaddle) with several feasible terrestrial and aquatic gaits. In this paper, we present a rigid paddle model for predicting the thrust force in one of the aquatic gaits, namely the rotational paddling gait. Thrust forces calculated by this model demonstrate the idea that by relocating the paddle shaft eccentrically from its wheel center, the rotating paddles will generate vectored thrust force for swimming. The paddling motion and the validity of the rigid paddle model are verified by experiments in a water tank.

TL;DR: In this paper, an approach for sizing particulate material comprising an inclined screen mesh for receiving material adjacent the upper end to flow toward the lower end and means for vibrating said mesh to sift on-size particles there through.
Abstract: Apparatus for sizing particulate material comprising an inclined screen mesh for receiving material adjacent the upper end to flow toward the lower end and means for vibrating said mesh to sift on-size particles therethrough. Lump breaker means is provided intermediate the upper and lower ends of the screen for impact breakage of agglomerated oversize lumps of said particulate material and for retarding the downward travel of said oversize material. Said lump breaker includes at least one rotating paddle extending transversely across said screen mesh and formed of flexible material, and a breaker plate above the screen mesh for protecting the screen and cooperating with the paddle to help break up large lumps of material into smaller size. The paddle is rotated in a direction to impact the oversize lumps upwardly on said screen mesh counter to the general flow direction of material downwardly toward the lower end.
