TL;DR: A new paddle made from high-density polyethylene plastic has been devised for use in egg hatching troughs and is very safe as it will paddle properly through water and can be stopped easily when grabbed by hand.
Abstract: A new paddle made from high-density polyethylene plastic has been devised for use in egg hatching troughs. This paddle is very safe as it will paddle properly through water and can be stopped easily when grabbed by hand. The plastic used to fabricate this paddle is 1/8 inch thick and cut from a drum with a reciprocating saw. New 30-gal drums, made of food-grade federally approved high-density polyethylene can be purchased for about US$30.

TL;DR: In this article, an improved paddle craft provides a boater with exterior controls to adjust items within the craft, such as an adjustable item in the paddle craft, a cockpit and cockpit opening and at least one control opening within the boater's reach when sitting in the cockpit.
Abstract: An improved paddle craft provides a boater with exterior controls to adjust items within the craft. The craft has a shell made of a substantially continuous surface to prevent the ingress of water and an adjustable item in the paddle craft affecting a boater's ergonomics, a cockpit and cockpit opening and at least one control opening within a boater's reach when the boater is sitting in the cockpit. A control for the adjustable item is mounted to the control opening, wherein the control has a manipulable handle at the control opening through a water resistant mount.

TL;DR: To reduce the risk for paddle sports fatalities, boating organizations and water-sport enforcement agencies should encourage boater safety education, use of PFDs, and avoidance of alcohol before and during boating.
Abstract: In 2006, approximately 70 million persons in the United States participated in recreational boating, and paddle sports vessels (i.e., canoes, kayaks, and inflatable rafts) made up the fastest-growing segment of the boating market. From 2005 to 2006, canoe sales in the United States increased by 23%, and kayak sales increased by 11%, while powerboat sales decreased by 5%. To analyze the trends and characteristics of deaths associated with paddle sports, the Maine Department of Health and Human Services examined data on fatalities that occurred during 2000-2007. The results of this analysis determined that paddle sports deaths were associated with inexperience, alcohol use, and not using a personal flotation device (PFD). To reduce the risk for paddle sports fatalities, boating organizations and water-sport enforcement agencies should encourage boater safety education, use of PFDs, and avoidance of alcohol before and during boating.

TL;DR: In this article, a mixer is provided that is configured for attachment to a power tool for mixing a viscous material, and includes a shaft defining a shaft axis, and a plurality of paddles attached to the shaft and extending radially from the shaft.
Abstract: A mixer is provided that is configured for attachment to a power tool for mixing a viscous material, and includes a shaft defining a shaft axis, and a plurality of paddles attached to the shaft and extending radially from the shaft. All of the paddles have generally the same axial distance to the first end of the shaft, and the paddles are configured for rotation about the shaft axis in a direction of rotation. Each of the paddles has a general “S”-shape defined between a top end and a bottom end of the paddle, and between a leading surface and a trailing surface of the paddle.
