TL;DR: In this article, the effect of the position of impeller on mixing time was investigated in agitated vessels of different bottom shapes, including a cone-fillet, a fully profiled and an ellipsoid bottom.
Abstract: Effect of eccentrically located position of impeller on mixing time was investigated in agitated vessels of different bottom shapes. The impellers used were a 4-bladed propeller and a 6-bladed flat paddle, which were commonly used in process industries, and the bottom shapes tested were a cone-fillet, a fully profiled and an ellipsoid bottom in addition to a flat bottom. The effect of off-bottom clearance of impeller on mixing time was also investigated at optimum eccentric locations for both impellers. For propeller, mixing times for all eccentric location covered in this work (e/R = 0.25–0.50, e: distance from shaft to center line of tank, R: radius of tank) became short drastically compared to those for centrally located for all bottom shapes and there was no significant effect of bottom shapes on mixing time. On the other hand, for flat paddle, mixing times were decreased proportionally with an increase in e/R. At optimum eccentric locations, those are e/R = 0.33 for propeller and 0.50 for flat paddle, the mixing times for propeller decrease drastically and then increase slightly with an increase in off-bottom clearance for all bottom shape and those for flat paddle decrease almost proportionally with an increase in off-bottom clearance but differed more or less according to the bottom shapes.

TL;DR: In this paper, a boat is propelled by the contraction and extention stepping action of both legs of the boat's right and left paddles, respectively, in a horizontal and parallel direction by means of an alternative contraction and extension stepping action.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To elevate an efficiency for a paddle and increase speed for a boat of a float type by installing a means paddling a couple of paddles port and starboard, being alternatively moved in a horizontal and parallel direction by means of an alternative contraction and extention stepping action of both legs. CONSTITUTION:As a right leg is stepped forward a port paddle 8 is moved forward being fallen backward sustaining water resistance while a paddle erecting roller 7 in the middle is pushed by projections of both sides of the paddle, falling down forward pressing a spring 9, erecting again after it has passed projections in both sides. At the same time, a left-paddle is moved jointly, and projections of both sides are erected moving along a paddle erecting roller 7 thereby erecting whole paddles, while the roller 7 comes off from an upper portion of the paddle, thence the paddle moves aft erecting and paddling water. Next, as the left leg is stepped forward the left paddle being fallen moves forward pushing down the paddle erecting roller 7, and the right paddle erects along the paddle erecting roller 7, thereby paddles water. The boat is propelled with the aforementioned action.

TL;DR: In this article, an actuator has a switch positioned proximate a pivot defined by a first end of the actuator lever, where movement of the bottom portion of the lever operates the switch from a deactivated state to an activated state, wherein the activated state of the switch activates the at least one of the ice dispenser and the water dispenser.
Abstract: A dispensing mechanism for an appliance includes an operable paddle having a lower portion and an upper portion pivotally attached to a dispenser wall between outward and inward positions. An actuator has a switch positioned proximate a pivot defined by a first end of an actuator lever. A second end of the actuator lever is positioned proximate the lower portion of the operable paddle, wherein operation of the operable paddle to the inward position engages the lower portion of the operable paddle with the bottom portion of the actuator lever and operates the actuator lever from an idle state to a use state. Movement of the bottom portion of the actuator lever operates the switch from a deactivated state to an activated state, wherein the activated state of the switch activates the at least one of the ice dispenser and the water dispenser.

TL;DR: In this article, a process for producing an emulsion by emulsion-polymerizing a polymerizable monomer is described, which comprises performing the emulsion polymerization by using an agitation tank composed of a vertical cylinder agitation tank 2 surrounded with a jacket for heat exchange, a vertical rotary shaft 3 in the center of the tank 2, a lower paddle 4 secured to the rotary-shaft 3 near the bottom of tank 2 and having the end shaped like a sweepback wing, and an upper paddle 5 having downwardly extending platy fins 6 at its lower
Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the title production process wherein a specified agitation tank is used, the deposition on the tank can be markedly reduced, the distribution of the particles of the emulsion is sharp, and the shapes of the particles are uniform CONSTITUTION:A process for producing an emulsion by emulsion-polymerizing a polymerizable monomer, which comprises performing the emulsion polymerization by using an agitation tank 2 composed of a vertical cylinder agitation tank 2 surrounded with a jacket for heat exchange, a vertical rotary shaft 3 in the center of the tank 2, a lower paddle 4 secured to the rotary shaft 3 near the bottom of the tank 2 and having the end shaped like a sweepback wing, and an upper paddle 5 having downwardly extending platy fins 6 at its lower end and a crossing angle alpha of 90 degrees with respect to the lower paddle 4, and preceding the paddle 4 in the direction of rotation

TL;DR: A paddle ball game and a method of ball control associated therewith which includes two paddles held parallel to each other and a resilient ball supported between them is described in this paper, where each player observes the ball's location through the transparent material used to form the paddle's ball engagement area and moves the paddle to roll the ball into the aperture in the other player's paddle.
Abstract: A paddle ball game and method of ball control associated therewith which includes two paddles held parallel to each other and a resilient ball supported between them. Each player observes the ball's location through the transparent material used to form the paddle's ball engagement area and moves the paddle to roll the ball into the aperture in the other player's paddle. The paddles also feature a handle mounted offset from the surface of the paddle and a flexible net which covers the aperture to catch the ball after it passes through. Alternatively, an inelastic cord is also used to tether the ball to the paddle. In another embodiment, means are provided to illuminate the engagement area for play in the dark.
