TL;DR: In this paper, a paddle wheel for a ship with a wheel shaft, a wheel hub, and paddles which are uniformly arranged on the outer edge of the wheel hub is described, where the water-repelling surface of the paddle is formed by at least two flat surfaces or camber surfaces which are connected with each other.
Abstract: The invention discloses a paddle wheel for a paddle wheel ship, which comprises a wheel shaft, a wheel hub arranged around the wheel shaft, and paddles which are uniformly arranged on the outer edge of the wheel hub, wherein the water-repelling surface of the paddle is formed by at least two flat surfaces or camber surfaces which are connected with each other or by a flat surface and a camber surface which are connected with each other; and the water-repelling surface of the paddle deflects to the rotating direction of the paddle wheel from the outer edge to the inter edge, with the defection angle Alpha larger than 10 degrees and less than 120 degrees The invention has the advantages that the energy waste during the high-speed rotation of the paddle wheel is avoided, the water-repelling surface of the paddle deflects to the rotating direction of the paddle wheel from the outer edge to the inter edge by 10 degrees to 120 degrees, so when the paddle repels water, the movement direction of water body flying off upward can be changed, and an extra upward counter acting force can be obtained, so the useful work is increased, and the idle work can be reduced, thus realizing the improvement of propulsive efficiency of the paddle wheel when in high-speed rotation

TL;DR: In this paper, an amphibious paddle track propulsion system was proposed for a water or land vehicle with the ability to selectively travel over land or water, the propulsion system having a paddle track, spring-loaded paddles, paddle supporting terrain treads, terrain feet, lead and rear sprockets, chain sprocket, engaging assembly for extending and retracting the paddles and lever for controlling the engaging assembly.
Abstract: An amphibious paddle track propulsion system mountable on any water or land vehicle for enabling the ability to selectively travel over land or water, the paddle track propulsion system having a paddle track, spring-loaded paddles, paddle supporting terrain treads, terrain treads, lead and rear sprockets, chain sprocket, engaging assembly for extending and retracting the paddles and lever for controlling the engaging assembly wherein each paddle has an engager extension that is engaged and disengaged by the engaging assembly to extend and retract paddles.

TL;DR: In this paper, a system for producing energy from sea waves consisting of a frame carrying at least two paddles units, capable of moving successively in series, when driven by progressing waves, and constituting appropriate means for transferring the successive motion of paddle units into electric energy, is presented.
Abstract: A system for producing energy from sea waves consisting of a frame carrying at least two paddles units, capable of moving successively in series, when driven by progressing waves, and constituting appropriate means for transferring the successive motion of paddle units into electric energy, each of said paddles units comprising a rod, to be submerged into sea and said rod is secured on said frame with possibility for pivoting with respect thereof, the lower extremity of said rod terminates by a paddle plate and said paddles units are arranged on said frame in series so as to enable the energy of a progressing wave to be consumed successively by each paddle unit.

TL;DR: A street sweeper vehicle debris elevator is rotatable in a shroud and comprises an arm means carried by a rotary shaft, the arm means carrying paddle means operable to displace debris received from a rotating broom into a receptacle, and the paddle means pivotally carried outwardly of the shaft to rotate relative to the arm mean in response to impact with large debris so that the paddle may pass over such debris allowing continued shaft rotation as mentioned in this paper.
