29 Jun 1999TL;DR: In this paper, a dense semiconductor flip-chip device assembly is provided with a heat sink/spreading/dissipating member which is formed as a paddle of a metallic paddle frame in a strip of paddle frames.
Abstract: A dense semiconductor flip-chip device assembly is provided with a heat sink/spreading/dissipating member which is formed as a paddle of a metallic paddle frame in a strip of paddle frames. Dice are bonded to the paddles by e.g. conventional die attach methods, enabling bump attachment and testing to be conducted before detachment from the paddle frame strip.

TL;DR: In this article, an integrated circuit packaging system and method of manufacture thereof includes: leads and a paddle; a first encapsulant molded between the leads and the paddle; conductive traces directly on the leads.
Abstract: An integrated circuit packaging system and method of manufacture thereof includes: leads and a paddle; a first encapsulant molded between the leads and the paddle, the first encapsulant thinner than the leads; a non-conductive layer over the paddle; and conductive traces directly on the leads, the first encapsulant, and the non-conductive layer.

Abstract: An experimental methodology was developed to improve the energy design of paddle dryers for sewage sludges. A laboratory batch dryer with a vertical agitator has been especially designed and instrumented to determine the heat flux densities. To determine the drying kinetic and the evaporation rates, the specific heat and the total heat of desorption of the sludge were measured using calorimetric devices. The evaporating flow rates recorded during the pasty and granular phases were then used in a simple model of the paddle dryer. The good agreement between the computed drying kinetics and the experimental ones measured in an industrial paddle dryer shows that the batch dryer can be used to classify the sludges according to their capacity to be dried in a paddle dryer.

TL;DR: The longitudinal orientation of a rectangular defibrillator paddle provides a lower Transthoracic impedance than orientation horizontally, which is a factor determining the magnitude of the transmyocardial current during external defibrillation.

TL;DR: A needle and method for introduction of a paddle style lead near a spinal column or other nervous system structures, central or peripheral, of a patient includes a body having a proximal end and a distal end, and a lumen with a continuous oblong cross section as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: A needle and method for introduction of a paddle style lead near a spinal column or other nervous system structures, central or peripheral, of a patient includes a body having a proximal end and a distal end, and a lumen with a continuous oblong cross section. The distal end of the body has an introducer portion where the top side of the introducer has an orifice to allow for protrusion of the paddle style lead from the lumen into the spinal column area or into or near other nervous system structures. The needle has a hub affixed to the proximal end of the body which is adapted to receive a stylet. The needle may also have a stylet that is inserted within the lumen. The introducer of the needle has a curvature extending from the bottom side toward the top side at the distal end and guides the introduction of the paddle style lead near the spinal column or other nervous system structures.
