TL;DR: An adjustable socket system, method, and kit for use with prosthetic devices or orthotic, orthopedic, or exoskeletal support devices that includes a paddle and a compressing device coupled to the paddle is described in this paper.
Abstract: An adjustable socket system, method, and kit for use with prosthetic devices or orthotic, orthopedic, or exoskeletal support devices that includes a paddle and a compressing device coupled to the paddle. The paddle is chosen from a plurality of paddles of different shapes in such a way that the paddle inner surface is substantially coextensive with a soft tissue area overlying skeletal structures. The compressing device presses the paddle against the soft tissue area in order to minimize the motion of the paddle relative to the underlying skeletal structures without causing discomfort to the user or compressing areas not in contact with the paddle, allowing compressed tissue to flow into uncompressed areas. The system, method, and kit can include an external tool, sensors, actuators, and controllers, to assist fitting and for adjustment after fitting. A stabilizer can be added to resist the bending force on the paddle.

TL;DR: The results of microalgae culture experiments and CFD simulations showed that the growth rates of Chlorella pyrenoidosa in the novel raceway pond with 15° inclined angle of the blades were higher than those in the traditional reactor.
Abstract: The open raceway ponds are nowadays the most used large-scale reactors for microalgae culture. To avoid the stacking of microalgae, the paddle wheels are the most widely used to circulate and mix the culture medium. In this paper, a numerical simulation using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) was used to investigate the hydrodynamic characteristics of open raceway ponds with different types of paddle wheels (the traditional paddle wheels and the novel paddle wheels with specially inclined angle of the blades). The particle image velocimetry (PIV) was used to validate the reliability of the CFD model. The CFD simulation results showed that the novel raceway pond with 15° inclined angle of the blades had the best mixing efficiency under the same power consumption. Lastly, the results of microalgae culture experiments showed that the growth rates of Chlorella pyrenoidosa in the novel raceway pond with 15° inclined angle of the blades were higher than those in the traditional reactor. The results of the culture experiments and CFD simulations were identical with each other. Therefore, a novel paddle wheel with 15° inclined angle of the blades was obtained for better microalgae cultivation.

TL;DR: In this article, an integrated circuit package having a conductive leadframe, a non-conductive die paddle mechanically coupled to the leadframe and a die disposed on the die paddle and electrically connected to a leadframe was presented.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus to provide an integrated circuit package having a conductive leadframe, a non-conductive die paddle mechanically coupled to the leadframe, and a die disposed on the die paddle and electrically connected to the leadframe. With this arrangement, eddy currents are reduced near the magnetic field transducer to reduce interference with magnetic fields.

TL;DR: In this paper, a feet-propelled water vehicle including a buoyant body having a user-supporting platform attached to a rigid frame secured to a pair of pontoons is described.
Abstract: A feet-propelled water vehicle including a buoyant body having a user-supporting platform attached to a rigid frame secured to a pair of pontoons. A pair of propelling paddles is attached to the rigid frame. Each propelling paddle defines a corresponding effectuating section and a corresponding blade section. The supporting platform defines flexible foot contacting regions for transferring the weight shifting action of an intended user to the effectuating sections of a corresponding propelling paddle. Each effectuating section allows the transformation of the force generated by the foot of the user into a corresponding pivotal movement of the paddle relative to the frame. The blade section attached to the effectuating section allows transformation of the pivotal movement of the paddle into a vehicle propelling force for propelling the vehicle across a body of water.

TL;DR: In this article, a locking mechanism is formed by providing a lock pin 19 engaged with a striker 18 located at the lower end of the charging lid 6 on the inside thereof, which is connected with an actuator 21 and are movable in the disengaging direction.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a charger which is hard to be burglarized by providing a charging lid which is opened/closed freely at the paddle inserting part of a charging port, such that the charging lid can be closed in a state where the paddle of a charger is inserted into the paddle inserting exposed by opening the charging lid. SOLUTION: A piston link 10 is disposed at the lower part of the paddle inserting part 4 of a charging port 3, and a charging lid is opened by means of a spring at normal times. A locking mechanism is formed by providing a lock pin 19 engaged with a striker 18 located at the lower end of the charging lid 6 on the inside thereof. A lock 16 and the lock pin 19 are connected with an actuator 21 and are movable in the disengaging direction. Since the charging lid 6 is locked by the lock pin 19 and the striker 18, a paddle 8 cannot be drawn out, and the charger will not be burglarized.
