TL;DR: An algorithm for the comparison of original layout design data with the physical chip layout recovered by reverse engineering is presented and validated on design and layout data from sample analysis results on 40 nm layers.
Abstract: Modern semiconductor products adopting worldwide distributed manufacturing face the threat of malicious manipulation. An efficient and correct proof of absence of any modification is targeted to be achieved through the comparison of original layout design data with the physical chip layout recovered by reverse engineering. This paper presents an algorithm for this task. It is validated on design and layout data from sample analysis results on 40 nm layers.

TL;DR: In this paper, an improved approach has been described to implement a new type of widget that obtains its context information from another widget, where a contextual widget is dropped into a drop zone, that contextual widget would obtain its context data from its parent drop zone widget.
Abstract: Therefore, what has been described is an improved for visually implementing a web page layout, where the web page layout includes a nested drop zone. Allowing the user to interactively implement nested drop zones provides numerous benefits, including the benefit of being able to create specialized layout configurations for a web page without requiring the need for expert programmers to write computer code for the new configuration. This permits the user to implement highly customized layout in a very easy and efficient way. In addition, an improved approach has been described to implement a new type of widget that obtains its context information from another widget. For example, when a contextual widget is dropped into a drop zone, that contextual widget would obtain its context data from its parent drop zone widget.

TL;DR: This paper attempts to incorporate multi-criteria decision making process (MCDM) methods to find the optimum layout to improve the operational performance through lean service, workplace environment and ergonomics approach.
Abstract: Generally, facility layout design (FLD) has a significant impact on the performance of a manufacturing or service industry which comes under multi-objective problem. Facility layout design is aimed to streamline the work flow and increasing the productivity. This paper attempts to incorporate multi-criteria decision making process (MCDM) methods to find the optimum layout to improve the operational performance through lean service, workplace environment and ergonomics approach. Layout design focuses on identification and elimination of waste (non-value added activities) and comfortable workplace environment with suitable ergonomics conditions in order to achieve the target production. The proposed methods are exemplified through practical applications in Indian postal manual speed post sorting facility layouts. In this case study, we have proposed three methods: analytical hierarchy process (AHP), technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) and fuzzy TOPSIS. Empirical results are encouraging for implementing feasible methods in solving a layout design problem.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed three stages: the first stage is to assign appropriate departments for each floor, the second stage is the traditional plant layout design within a floor, and the third stage is search feasible locations for different sets of elevators.
Abstract: This research is related to the layout design considering with problems of multi-floor and elevators' location designs. The attempts to achieve are basically minimizing both layout cost and flow distances among entire factory. The developing procedures include three stages: the first stage is to assign appropriate departments for each floor; the second stage is the traditional plant layout design within a floor; the third stage is to search feasible locations for different sets of elevators. The Threshold Accepting (TA) algorithm is used for finding feasible solution. This research also uses space filling curve (SFC) method to find the optimal solution for locating departments. The analyzed results show that the proposed procedures and methods can reduce 58.25% the vertical material handling cost compared used in the same example. This result also shows that the proposed method can obtain better performance than previews researches.

TL;DR: Bottom-up and top-down dynamic programming algorithms are given to solve guillotine layout problems of two forms, and a novel interaction model for documents on electronic media is proposed.
Abstract: Guillotine-based page layout is a method for document layout commonly used by newspapers and magazines, where each region of the page either contains a single article, or is recursively split either vertically or horizontally. Suprisingly there appears to be little research into algorithms for automatic guillotine-based document layout. In this paper we give efficient algorithms to find optimal solutions to guillotine layout problems of two forms. Fixed-cut layout is where the structure of the guillotining is given and we only have to determine the best configuration for each individual article to give the optimal total configuration. Free layout is where we also have to search for the optimal structure. We give bottom-up and top-down dynamic programming algorithms to solve these problems, and propose a novel interaction model for documents on electronic media. Experiments show that our algorithms are effective for realistic layout problems.
