Abstract: In the design procedure, designers always analyse and consider various requirements and also conduct necessary information processing so as to obtain the most suitable result. In order to rationally automatise such a design procedure, it is necessary to process the design and its related information effectively by a computer system, especially from the aspect of decision making while processing the information. Thus, in this paper, a decision-making methodology for the basic layout design of machine tools has been proposed to establish an intelligent CAD system. The proposed methodology is based on the priority rule of the input specification, and its validity has also been verified through some case studies on the selection of the suitable bearing type and arrangement of the main spindle in machine tools by the usage of a developed system for supporting decision making.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily and rapidly design a layout by storing the histories of respective layout steps at the time of sequentially layout operating while plural parts are mutually associated, changing the layout of past prescribed parts when an inconvenience is produced in the operated result of an arrangement state and then reoperating from a desired process according to the histories. CONSTITUTION:A layout information means for storing the layout state of the components to be designed and storing a relative layout relation provided by the respective components, an input means, a main arithmetic means for operating an undecided components layout state according to a selected procedure from the decided components layout state and the relative layout relation and storing the arithmetic result in the layout information storing means and a history information storing means for storing the arithmetic procedure in the arithmetic means as history information are provided. When the inconvenience is produced in the arithmetic result of the layout state, the history information is traced thereby, the respective components layout states are reoperated from the required process. Thereby, the number of times requiring the decision of a user is extremely reduced.

Abstract: The performance of finding an optimal solution is always a crucial engineering research topic. Quality of solutions obtained depends on the algorithm and its parameter settings applied to solve a problem. Machine layout design (MLD) problem involves the arrangement of machines into shop floor area to optimise performance measures. This paper presents the use of the experimental design and analysis to investigate the optimal parameter setting of Genetic Algorithm (GA) for designing multiple-row machine layout with demand uncertainty aiming to minimise the total cost. The analysis on the results obtained from computational experiments suggested that the proposed algorithm with and without adopting the optimised parameter setting performed distinctively on each problem size. The best GA parameters for MLD problem under stochastic customer demand were statistically compared and reported.

Abstract: The invention discloses a low-frequency satellite cable design system, design software framework and design method. The design system comprises a base module, a cable and auxiliary module, a cable layout automatic analysis module and a cable layout result output module, the base module is used for reading a computer aided design module, reading and analyzing cable interface data sheets and performing two-dimensional drawing output and three-dimensional wiring operations according to analyzing results, the cable and auxiliary module is used for modeling for a cable and an auxiliary and managing data, the cable layout automatic analysis module is used for automatically fitting and optimizing cable layout paths, interacting with users and amending the cable layout paths, and the cable layout result output module is used for outputting cable layout results. Integrated layout design of an overall cable can be achieved, design cycle is shortened, and product reliability is improved.
