TL;DR: Empirical experiments show that the proposed two-layer evolutionary algorithm can efficiently design effective warehouse layouts that outperform both heuristic-designed and vanilla evolution-designed warehouse layouts.
Abstract: With the rapid growth of the express industry, intelligent warehouses that employ autonomous robots for carrying parcels have been widely used to handle the vast express volume. For such warehouses, the warehouse layout design plays a key role in improving the transportation efficiency. However, this work is still done by human experts, which is expensive and leads to suboptimal results. In this paper, we aim to automate the warehouse layout designing process. We propose a two-layer evolutionary algorithm to efficiently explore the warehouse layout space, where an auxiliary objective fitness approximation model is introduced to predict the outcome of the designed warehouse layout and a two-layer population structure is proposed to incorporate the approximation model into the ordinary evolution framework. Empirical experiments show that our method can efficiently design effective warehouse layouts that outperform both heuristic-designed and vanilla evolution-designed warehouse layouts.

TL;DR: From the rules or heuristics used for page splitting, an algorithm was devised that closely matched human page-splitting results and was combined in a computer-aided design procedure that automatically pages task lists and lays out individual pages.
Abstract: In converting task listings into multiple pages of documentation for job aids or training, the two major problems are deciding how much material should go on each page and how text and graphics should be laid out on the page. A questionnaire study was used to collect input from 14 human factors personnel in order to design algorithms for page splitting and page layout. From the rules or heuristics used for page splitting, an algorithm was devised that closely matched human page-splitting results. Layout of individual pages was automated with an algorithm based on the (significant) consensus among the subjects on questions of graphics positioning and label ordering. The two algorithms have been combined in a computer-aided design procedure that automatically pages task lists and lays out individual pages.

TL;DR: In this newly developed custom-design system, a formal description language CSL (Circuit and Layout Specification Language) have been introduced, which is capable of defining a circuit and giving analog layout specifications, supported by analog-oriented placement, routing and compaction algorithms.
Abstract: This paper describes a layout design system for analog custom LSIs with an error-free architecture. Analog LSI layout is dependent on the designer's skill and know-how because of parasitic effects peculiar to analog signal processing. Analog standard cell or linear array approaches have been proposed to reduce design time and cost, but they are semi-custom approach insufficient to cope with various analog functions. In this newly developed custom-design system, a formal description language CSL (Circuit and Layout Specification Language) have been introduced, which is capable of defining a circuit and giving analog layout specifications. The system compiles design data of the CSL form, creates various device-shapes, and completes a layout design with no violation of design rules, electrical rules and analog layout specifications, supported by analog-oriented placement, routing and compaction algorithms. At present, this system is practically used, and layout design cost and time have been reduced to one third compared with a conventional design method.

TL;DR: The paper explores the key issues on operation with special concern on layout design in service mass customization by conducting a case study in Chinese restaurant and revealed that layout planning should meet the requirement of the product modularity for achieving flexibility in mass customization.
Abstract: The paper explores the key issues on operation with special concern on layout design in service mass customization by conducting a case study in Chinese restaurant. Findings are given in terms of the relationships in between the product modularity, layout flexibility and the effectiveness of LAYSPLT method. It revealed that layout planning as an important part of the process design should meet the requirement of the product modularity for achieving flexibility in mass customization. And the method of LAYSPLT could be effective in layout design if the decision for which department to be split could be made and relatively independent "production cells" could be formed. Moreover the distinctive features of service should also be taken into account in layout design of mass customization.

TL;DR: In this article, a page layout file is generated from a plurality of layers, where the layout relationship between the layout areas independently corresponding to each layer group is determined by the organizational relationship between layer groups, and the control attribute is appointed by an input configuration operation.
Abstract: The invention discloses a generation method and device of a page layout file. The method comprises the following steps: obtaining a target image file which comprises a plurality of layers, and the grouping information of the plurality of layers, wherein the grouping information is used for indicating a layer group to which each layer belongs, and an organizational relationship between the layer groups; and according to a layout relationship between a layout area independently corresponding to each layer group and the layout area independently corresponding to each layer group, a control attribute independently corresponding to each layer and layout information, generating a page layout file, wherein the layout area independently corresponding to each layer group is determined by the layout information of the layers independently contained in each layer group, the layout relationship between the layout areas independently corresponding to each layer group is determined by the organizational relationship between the layer groups, and the control attribute independently corresponding to each layer is appointed by an input configuration operation. The scheme can improve GUI (Graphical User Interface) development efficiency and saves development cost.
