TL;DR: An algorithm which solves the channel expansion problem is presented and guarantees the minimum number of rerouted channels with respect to a single channel in a given placement.
Abstract: In order to develop an efficient method of routing channels in the layout design process, an algorithm which solves the channel expansion problem is presented. This algorithm guarantees the minimum number of rerouted channels with respect to a single channel in a given placement. In addition, examples are given to illustrate various aspects of the algorithm.

TL;DR: This paper presents a facility layout design for a cellular manufacturing system (CMS), with the automated guided vehicles (AGVs) as the transportation device, to minimize the total material handling costs.
Abstract: This paper presents a facility layout design for a cellular manufacturing system (CMS), with the automated guided vehicles (AGVs) as the transportation device, to minimize the total material handling costs. A new concept of assigning the workstations to the non-overlapping closed zones, by which independent AGVs are allocated for internal transfer of materials/parts in each zone, is proposed. To handle this problem, a mathematical programming model is developed. The problem has been shown to be NP-hard. This computational difficulty has led us to consider suboptimal solutions generated by a Tabu search with three algorithmic variants. To evaluate the efficiencies of these algorithms, an ANOVA statistical test is performed and the best algorithm is designated. The solution of the new algorithms is then compared with the solution obtained by the CPLEX software. The result indicates that the designated algorithm can provide an average solution with a small deviation of only 0.01% from the optimal solution. This algorithm is also applied to a real-world case problem. The use of this algorithm for re-designing of the layout for the real-world case problem shows considerable cost saving comparing to its existing layout design.

TL;DR: In this article, a new layout design to effectively reduce the layout area of CMOS output transistors but with higher driving capability and better ESD reliability is proposed, which can be practically achieved by the proposed new layout styles within a smaller layout area in the non-silicided bulk CMOS process.

TL;DR: Methods, systems, and articles of manufacture for implementing dynamic maneuvers within virtual hierarchies of an electronic design update a layout view into an updated layout view at least by exposing layout design details in the figure group for native editing according to the request to descend into or ascend from a figure group.
Abstract: Disclosed are methods, systems, and articles of manufacture for implementing dynamic maneuvers within virtual hierarchies of an electronic design. These techniques identify or generate a plurality of figure groups at one or more virtual hierarchies in a layout portion and receive a request to descend into or ascend from a figure group at a virtual hierarchy of the one or more virtual hierarchies. In response to the received request, these techniques update a layout view into an updated layout view at least by exposing layout design details in the figure group for native editing according to the request to descend into or ascend from the figure group and optionally synchronize a corresponding schematic design view according to the updated layout view.

TL;DR: This study examined fourway pedestrian movement statistics generated from heuristic search techniques to find feasible classroom layout solutions and shows that promising results for simulated annealing and genetic algorithm operator algorithms in pedestrian simulation modelling are shown.
Abstract: A well designed space must consider not only ease of movement, but also ensure safety in a panic situation, such as emergency evacuation in a stadium or hospital. The movement statistics connected with pedestrian flow can be very helpful in feasible layout design. In this study, we examined fourway pedestrian movement statistics generated from heuristic search techniques to find feasible classroom layout solutions. The aim of the experiment is to compare how fast and effective the algorithms can generate automatic solutions to the layout. Experiments from our preliminary study have shown that promising results for simulated annealing and genetic algorithm operator algorithms in pedestrian simulation modelling. Our experimental results are compared with current classroom layouts. We find a feasible layout with a staggering shaped and wider lane, objects shift aside to the walls creating bigger lanes in the middle of layout, or escape routes are created surrounding the clustered objects.
