TL;DR: A lithography driven layout (LDL) design approach is presented that adds upon the conventional layout optimisation criterions to include the effects of lithographic complexity of the future IC technologies.
Abstract: A lithography driven layout (LDL) design approach is presented. The approach adds upon the conventional layout optimisation criterions to include the effects of lithographic complexity of the future IC technologies. We analyse the various tradeoffs between the design and lithographic requirements for the IC layouts. Based on this, various LDL design rules are identified that leads to a good compromise between conflicting litho and design requirements. These LDL rules goes beyond the common design for manufacturability rules as they try to reduce the mask cost and extend the lifetime of existing litho-tools. A set of standard-cell layouts designed in 65nm CMOS technology are analysed for their litho-printability. Based on this, LDL design constraints are identified which simplify lithography and have limited impact on design area. The impact of such LDL rules on the performance, cost, and litho printability of IC layouts is presented.

TL;DR: In this article, an application composite editor for compound documents containing not only text but also graphics and tables to facilitate the manipulation of object sets in the formatting algorithm is presented. But it does not take into account the complexity inside the superblock structure except when a page end decision must be made.
Abstract: An application composite editor for compound documents containing not only text but also graphics and tables to facilitate the manipulation of object sets in the formatting algorithm. The editor works with a page layout philosphy wherein data objects reside on the page and data resides in the data objects. All pages reside within a document object, and some data objects may have additional objects within them. Objects are data-specific entities that the user can manipulate on the page. All objects exist within a specified boundary on the page, and this boundary is defined as an object set boundary. Object sets may be moved into positions on the page such that more than one object set is occupying a single displayable area on the page. Such an arrangement of objects creates a structure called a superblock. A superblock is any displayable area containing two or more objects sets positioned so that the object sets overlap one another, reside side-by-side or extend above or below one another. A text object set may not be overlapped by any other object set. Although the superblock is itself a complex structure, the creation of this structure by the editor greatly simplifies integration of different data types on the page for the user and allows the user to manipulate a group of object sets within a single displayable area on the page with relative ease. Moreover, formatting of the document is facilitated by the editor since the superblock is treated as an object set without taking into consideration the complexity inside the superblock structure except when a page end decision must be made.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an environment which enables a user to implement 3D space design on a computer accessible to a server computer via a network, where the client computer is equipped with the browser capable of executing programs of the layout design program and the 3D display program.
Abstract: Provided is an environment which enables a user to implement 3D space design on a computer accessible to a server computer via a network. The server computer includes a layout design program which is operable on a screen activated by a browser of the client computer to enable the user to implement space design of a layout in the terms of a 2D image, an object database which stores object data used for layout design for retrieval and extraction, and a 3D display program which is operable on the browser screen of the client computer to display the designed space in the terms of a 3D image. The client computer is equipped with the browser capable of executing programs of the layout design program and the 3D display program. Upon receiving the layout design program and the 3D display program from the server computer via the network, the programs of the layout design program and the 3D display program are executable on the browser screen.

TL;DR: The proposed flexiblemachine layout design procedure formulates and solves a robust machine layout design problem over a rolling horizon planning time window and optimizes the trade-offs between increased material handling costs as requirements change and machine rearrangement costs needed to adapt the layout to these changes.
