TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a decision support tool named EASL (Environmental Architecture Space Layout) optimizer to bridge the gap between thermal and spatial zoning within architectural workflows.
Abstract: Although environmental performance-based methodologies are increasingly considered in the early design stages due to their potential for improving the final building performance, few studies have scrutinized the interoperation of floor-plan design and thermal zoning for the purpose of optimized building energy use and indoor comfort. The absence of effective tools, which aid designers incorporate an environmentally adapted thermal zoning into the space arrangement process, invokes the strong necessity for a new space layout design methodology based on optimal thermal zoning. Thus, this paper presents a highly practical decision support tool named EASL (Environmental Architecture Space Layout) optimizer to bridge the gap between thermal and spatial zoning within architectural workflows. In this software, performance evaluation using the whole building simulation tool (Ecotect) and zone-based layout creation techniques is integrated for the automated generation of an optimal geometry of space and envelope g...

TL;DR: In this article, a wiring layout design method and system providing efficient routing of wiring paths between multiple function blocks in an integrated circuit is disclosed. Butler et al. used a locator designating a desired contact point for each on-grid LST to be connected, without restriction relative to the predetermined grid pattern of the logic service terminals.
Abstract: A wiring layout design method and system providing efficient routing of wiring paths between multiple function blocks in an integrated circuit is disclosed. Associated with the function blocks are logic service terminals (LSTs) aligned on-grid relative to the global wiring layout. The technique utilizes a locator designating a desired contact point for each on-grid LST to be connected. The contact point designation is made without restriction relative to the predetermined grid pattern of the logic service terminals. Subsequent use of a conventional global wiring layout program to generate a layout of connections between LSTs, a reformatting program connects each wired logic service terminal to its desired contact point on the associated function block using the corresponding locator.

TL;DR: A heuristic to determine a common linear machine sequence for multiple products with different operation sequences and a limited number of duplicate machine types available for the job indicates that the proposed method can be an effective tool in solving layout design problems.
Abstract: This paper presents a simple heuristic to determine a common linear machine sequence for multiple products with different operation sequences and a limited number of duplicate machine types available for the job. The heuristic is based on minimisation of the total flow distance travelled by a product on the linear machine sequence. It is assumed that the flows of products are allowed only in the forward direction, either in-sequence or by-pass. It is also assumed that backtrack movements are not allowed. The effectiveness of the proposed heuristic is demonstrated through the solutions of two typical layout design problems taken from the literature. Subsequently, a number of additional problems are solved and their results are compared with the results applying existing methods. The results indicate that the proposed method can be an effective tool in solving layout design problems.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a Web flow collator and a system for accessing a web page by using a mobile terminal, where the collator rearranges the page layout of the Web page, filters out the content not suitable for the mobile terminal to display and convert a picture or process the format of the picture, so that a user can access the web page without being limited by the performance of the mobile terminals.
Abstract: The invention discloses a Web flow collator, and a method and a system for accessing a Web page by using a mobile terminal. The method mainly comprises the following steps that: the Web flow collator receives a Web page access request from the mobile terminal; the Web flow collator acquires the supporting capacity of the mobile terminal from the request; the Web flow collator forwards the request to a Web server and acquires the content of the Web page from the Web server; and the Web flow collator performs layout conversion on the content of the Web page according to the supporting capacity of the mobile terminal. The Web flow collator rearranges the page layout of the Web page, filters out the content not suitable for the mobile terminal to display and convert a picture or process the format of the picture, so that a user can access the Web page without being limited by the performance of the mobile terminal and can directly access the Web page by a mobile terminal provided by any equipment manufacturers to acquire the complete content of the Web page.

TL;DR: In this article, user interface events are augmented with page layout data from the document object model to predict an area of a user's attention during an interaction with a web page, which can be used to predict the area of interest.
Abstract: During an interaction with a web page, user interface events are recorded and augmented with page layout data from the document object model. An event stream is formed with the page layout data and communicated to an event server. The event server processes the event stream to determine a location at which the events were generated, which can be used to predict an area of a user's attention.
