TL;DR: In this paper, the planar reflectors are arranged with respect to the focusing element so that each planar reflectsor cooperates with a different portion of the focusing elements to project onto an IR detector located at the focus of such focusing element a relatively constant size image of a given target.
Abstract: A passive infrared detection system includes a reflective optical system comprising a focusing element (e.g. an elliptical or parabolic reflector) having an apparent focal length dependent upon the displacement of incident rays from the optical axis of such element, and a plurality of planar reflectors arranged at different angles with respect to such optical axis to provide the detection system with a plurality of different zones of detection, each having a different maximum detection range associated with it. According to the invention, the planar reflectors are arranged with respect to the focusing element so that each planar reflector cooperates with a different portion of the focusing element to project onto an IR detector located at the focus of such focusing element a relatively constant size image of a given target located at the maximum detection range associated with that planar reflector. Such an optical system provides the detection system with more uniform sensitivity from one zone of detection to another.

TL;DR: In this paper, an antenna with a parabolic reflector and at least one supply line is specified, on whose free end an exciter is fitted, and the supply line (2) is constructed as a bending-resistant, tubular component of metal.
Abstract: An antenna with a parabolic reflector (1) and at least one supply line (2) is specified, on whose free end an exciter is fitted. The supply line (2) is constructed as a bending-resistant, tubular component of metal. It projects through a central opening (5) of the reflector (1) and is fixed to the same by means of a metallic retaining flange (7). For simple, corrosion-free and dimensionally accurate installation, the retaining flange (7) is soldered circumferentially to the supply line in the course of prefabrication.

TL;DR: A quasi-parabolic reflector and method for a solar concentrator which produces a unique radiation pattern which is less susceptible to surface defects, less sensitive to target distance irregularities, and having greater uniformity of intensity for PV applications in comparison to that produced by true parabolic reflectors are provided in this article.
Abstract: A quasi-parabolic reflector and method are provided for a solar concentrator which produces a unique radiation pattern which is less susceptible to surface defects, less sensitive to target distance irregularities, and having greater uniformity of intensity for PV applications in comparison to that produced by true parabolic reflectors. Cross-sections of the quasi-parabolic reflector include spaced reflective surfaces which have focal areas spaced one from the other about an axis of symmetry. A method for forming petals of a quasi-parabolic reflector includes stamping them into shape using a stamping apparatus with a higher radius of curvature than the finished petal and iteratively testing and stamping the petal until the petal passes or fails a quality and accuracy threshold.
