Abstract: We demonstrated a pulse-to-pulse frequency-tunable LiNbO3 terahertz-wave parametric oscillator, pumped with a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. Rapid tuning from 1 to 2 THz, with random frequency accessibility, was achieved by rotating the pump beam angle using an optical beam scanner and a telescope.

Abstract: A feasibility analysis of using parametric amplification in order to improve the performance of a micromachined rate gyroscope is presented. The actuation is based on variable force actuators that depend on the force-time variation relation, thus the nonlinear Mathieu equation governs the driving motion. We demonstrated by numerical simulations that in a parametric amplified system with linear mechanical stiffness there exist a flattened region that can be used as the operation region of a 2-DOF microgyroscope. In this way the system is able to achieve a wider bandwidth of operation without sacrificing the sense mode gain: a robust micro sensor that is less sensitive to parameter variations

Abstract: Nanosecond AgGaS(2) type-I singly resonant optical parametric oscillator pumped by a Q-switched 1.064 mum Nd:YAG laser is demonstrated experimentally. Continuously tunable 2.6-5.3 mum radiation and output pulse energy up to 0.6 mJ at 4 mum are achieved in a single-stage conversion process. The analysis of pump threshold is investigated both theoretically and experimentally.

Abstract: We report a high-repetition-rate intracavity opti- cal parametric oscillator (IOPO) based on a non-critically phase-matched KTP crystal placed inside the resonator of a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. The IOPO, operating at 1k Hz , produces average powers up to 0:35 W at 1:57 mm and 0:15 W at 3:29 mm. The dynamics of the IOPO is in good qualitative agreement with numerical simulations.
